This is a good bracket for mounting a fan, but the kit doesn't fit all installation styles. I have a ceiling fan where the base cover itself holds the ball, and if this bracket were to go in, the base cover would have nowhere to attach, the bracket would sit too tall for the cover to cover over anyways. So no go on that one, but in places with standard height covers and downrods, this should work fine.

Item arrived in a small box and was wrapped in plastic. There were no directions, or guidelines for use.If you know what you're doing, not having directions should not be a deterrent. If you don't know how to use this bracket, you'll probably want to familiarize yourself with the application and installation of a ceiling fan and mounting bracket. There are plenty of sources online to help guide you.All of the hardware and more was present with the package. The bracket is made of steel and looks and feels rather robust. I've purchased brackets from big box stores that are not as well made. Overall I'm happy with the bracket, but I am marking 4 starts because of the questionable packaging and lack of directions. (which, in all likelihood, is why the bracket is as inexpensive as others I've purchased)
