I have a very strong Morgan and I am a small middle age female. I had to find the correct bit for this unusually large gelding (16hh). I had tried a Glory bit, a Slow Twist Snaffle and a Double Twisted Wire and nothing was effective. A friend lent me a Pessoa Slow Twist Elevator, that along with a Figure Eight Nose Band worked perfectly. However, that Pessoa bit is no longer available, so this Pessoa Waterford resulted in being a fine substitute. The Morgan is now coming off the bit, and stopping very well in the ring and on the trails with one other rider. I will be taking him out on trails in a large group soon, so the experiment will be complete if successful then. I would recommend this bit for a horse and rider who need a little something extra but not something so severe that it will negatively effect the horse's mouth (and the rider's arms).
