Bought this to use in a physics classroom to demonstrate how the centrifugal force isn't a force at all. It's just Newton's 1st law (inertia) in action. This did the trick. Spins up and clamps move out and engage the clutch. I did not put this in a go cart so I can't tell you how well it works in an engine.

Picked this up for a Go Kart project I am making for the kids. Out of the box this seems like a very well made, stout clutch unit. It looks like it is better made than the ones I remember from my childhood Go Kart, those seemed to be kind of loose and sloppy, but that might have just been because they were old or used. This clutch unit is very tight, solid, no play. Seems to be precision made, good finish, solid parts, and heavy in the hand. This should do quite nicely. Very happy with it.

I'm an older seasoned automotive technician, I'm reviewing this product based on my many years of experience in the field working with all kinds of equipment. Belt drive Centrifugal Clutch assembly, commonly used for go-karts, mini bikes, or any assortment of small engine driven equipment. Unit appears to be robust in design, clutch shoes and springs appear to be made to withstand constant use. This unit works with a 3/4 engine shaft. Clutch assembly has a non removable built in keyway, but does not have a set screw provision, so an external snap ring or washer at the end of the shaft will be needed to retain the unit on the shaft. No instruction sheet provided in kit. Price point is considered slightly high for this unit.

I have been restoring an old minibike for our grandkids to use around the property when they visit. It needed quite a few new parts and this centrifugal clutch was one of them. It was extremely easy to install after removing the old one. The old one was bailey able to move the bike down hill with me on it, with this new one I was riding it all over the place. The price was fair and the performance is great.

Internals seem heavy duty enough and I kuje the belt drive. No set screw or anything, so you need other ways to keep it in the engine, such as a snap ring or bolt and washer on the shaft, but without spacers, when under no load and not engaged, it can still rattle and move a bit. Brings me to NY next point. I always dislike integrated keyway, they make the unit feel cheap and the whole thing is junk if it fails for any reason. Plus the previously mentioned movement will slowly damage it, and possibly the keyway in the shaft itself, though how quick or enough to worry about, I don't know.
