Correct sizing on chaps. Ear muffs are comfortable to wear and block 26 db of sound. Safety glasses are cheap get better ones.

I'm not going to take my chainsaw to these to test them, but judging by the weight, they should do their job. These are not rated for electric chainsaws. The initial orientation of the buckles/straps is incorrect, but it is trivial to flip them over. These provide more coverage to the outer leg than inner leg, but it's sufficient for both. They're actually quite comfortable to wear, and very easy to adjust as needed, and they anchor in more than one location so they don't flail around. The safety glasses are standard basic safety glasses, and the earmuffs are fairly standard bulky earmuffs which work just fine and are not uncomfortable.

I have been wanting some chainsaw chaps and was happy when I was given the opportunity to get this set for review. The set comes with the chaps, plus a set of hearing protector ear muffs and some clear safety glasses. I usually use a forestry helmet with built-in hearing protection and face shield, so I’ll be using the included items for other jobs around the house, mostly when using other power tools. Before commenting on the chaps, I can say that the hearing protectors are just as nice as others I have used in the past. They feel well made, have a padded headband and adjustable ear muffs. They clamp pretty hard over the ears and the noise reduction is very effective. The included safety glasses are just simple, molded clear plastic glasses. They do the job but are nothing special. The chaps are quite heavy and thick and feel well made. The waist band cab be folded over, engaging with four snaps for the folded position. The product description and included instructions don’t say anything about that folding waistband, but it lets you shorten the length of the chaps by about 2 inches in the folded position. I am 6 feet tall with a 34 inch inseam and ordered the 40 inch chaps. They fit me well, with the bottom of the legs just starting to curve over the tops of my boots with the waistband in the longer position. Folding the waistband brings the bottom of the chaps just to the top of my foot.

The safety glasses are bog standard impact and UV resistant polycarbonate. The ear protection is well constructed and seems like it lives up to its spec sheet. The chaps look and feel like what they should be; heavy nylon canvas on the outside and several layers of aramid fabric on the inside with heavy duty nylon webbing for a belt and for cinching them to the legs. There's a snap-secured rollover at the waist for adjusting the length a bit. Without the benefit of destructive testing, all I can say is that everything seems perfectly adequate for its purpose. There's mention on the packaging for the chaps that says they're not fit for use with electric chainsaws. If you use one, take note.

It's so easy and cheap these days to get a small electric chainsaw for cleaning up smaller branches that I'm glad they're offering a decent basic kit like this to cover the necessary safety equipment. It's all pretty basic, but everything has the appropriate ANSI and OSHA ratings and the chaps are UL certified. The chaps are actually pretty good quality, but the ear muffs and safety glasses are very basic and I'm sure anyone doing this professionally is going to want a higher quality set, but for some light work during the weekends they should suffice. The ear muffs have an NRR rating of 26dB and are quite bulky. My biggest issue with the ear muffs and safety glasses is just their small size and lack of adjustability for anything more. The ear muffs barely fit my head with it fully extended (each side only extends about half an inch) and the safety glasses are almost sitting on my eyelids (it may stop shrapnel from touching my eye but not the impact). The chaps fit well with adjustable straps and buckles. The waist has snaps to help you double it over to shorten it a couple of inches if needed, so if you're between sizes go for the longer size. You can feel the chain stopping fibers through the back lining and it's got a decent amount distributed throughout.

This was a cool set to have for saw work. I work in the fire service and have seen what happens when you don't wear chaps.. its brutal. I make sure everyone around me is always using chaps, at work or around the house with yardwork. These will do the job, and the set comes with hearing and eye protection. Only thing missing is a brim hat to shade the neck!

So I was watching a movie about a guy cutting firewood with a chainsaw when a bolt came loose and the chain flew back and cut his leg down to the bone...he bled out before anyone answered his cries for help. Yuck! That got me motivated. I live on a hundred acres of forested land and heat my home with firewood I cut. I looked on line and ordered this pair of chaps. I actually didn't realize they came with ear protectors and safety glasses too. The ear protectors are nicely padded and work well. Being in the woods I just stepped outside to test them and fired my 9mm - perfect. They can be used for target shooting as well. Those safety glasses actually are cool! I thought they were just the Harbor Freight variety but these actually magnify slightly. Things are clear and sharp... Not slightly fuzzy. I wore them while refilling propane tanks so they have a myriad of uses to protect your eyes. The chaps were just a tiny bit long for me (I'm 5'10") and just bunched a bit above my boots. No biggie. They fit well and will give me a better sense of protection.Even with all this good equipment, be sure and get a hard hat, heavy leather work gloves and a whistle. That's for signalling your partner if you do get hurt. I also ordered some Kevlar pull on sleeves too. We are an hour away from the hospital.I recommend these chaps and hope I never have to test the the hard way.
