I purchased this for a project and the brush inside the motor got jammed/tangled after about 2 weeks. It just randomly stopped working all together... poof... It did, however, work really well before that. It felt pretty powerful just hooked up to my laptop.

My 24V RYOBI edger is a bit older, motor bearing went but parts have been discontinued. Went with the double shaft as it was the only one with enough length for my application. On the plus side, motor is a bit quieter than original while speed and torque are about equivalent. So performs fine, but the retrofit was still a headache.Was able to tap threads to the new shaft. Seems to be hardened steel so no issues with strength. However, when pushing it further outward the bearings moved also. So the new motor had to be disassembled and add a 3mm spacer pressed on the shaft internally to prevent lateral movement when adjusting it further. If this motor was internally shimmed correctly I would have gave 5*. If you don't need to adjust the shaft length then this shouldn't be necessary.Both ends use a 625 ball bearing. Probably sufficient though my original used a single 635 and a brass bushing for the rear which was a bit more substantial. Still, the ball bearing is what failed while the bushing was still pristine. This new motor does at least have the internal fan. Hopefully It'll last at least a few more seasons before all my lithium batteries crap out and I have to upgrade all over again.**1 Year Update**Edger has made it through a full season of normal periodic use and motor has been working out fine.
