I initially ordered this to slice up bananas, and other small fruits for the dehydrator. It works very well in that application. It doesn't struggle at all.The first time I tried to slice up a block of cheddar cheese, one of the strings snapped off. It's just not robust enough for heavy block cheese.

So the dimensions of this is definitely for a block of butter, but I got it for cheese. My small 1 pound block of cheese is about an inch too long, for this cheese slicer. It’s a little bit of a bummer, but it’s worth it because of the amount of time that I save.My biggest tip with this cheese slicer, is to go slow, because hurrying will not make the cheese separate itself faster.I highly recommend!
