I’m in love with this adorable nursery rhyme felt board set. The board is large and sturdy, folds at the middle and has pockets for each set of characters. It is really well made and seems to have quality material that will last through lots of toddler fun (we will see!)The colors are bright, board is large size. You can use the back of the board to place characters on (back is felt so characters will stick onto it). I like that you can also hang it up with the adhesive hooks and have the option of the popsicle Velcro sticks to move the characters around. Fun and accessible for toddlers and preschoolers.Love the variety of nursery rhymes, some very well known and others I’ve heard of but don’t know all the words (like hickory Dickory dock lol). The set comes with an instruction book that also has all the words to the nursery rhymes PLUS a story you can read along with it! The little instruction book is fantastic and I’m excited to use it with my four year old!This thing has great educational value. My four year old loves it and was obsessed with acting out the Humpty Dumpty song. My 16 month old thought it was cool to throw the characters and jump on top of the board and chew on the popsicle stick lol. It might be a chore keeping all the characters together and in their proper places but it’s worth it for such a fun kids activity.A bit pricy, but this is a quality educational product I would recommend!

This is a well thought out and adorable nursery rhymes play puppet set. Each individual piece has a Velcro dot that you can stick onto the felt board or on to a popsicle stick so that you can move it around.I have a similar set, but it’s a large felt board with felt pieces that aren’t really mobile. It’s more like setting up the pieces up on the board, which doesn’t really stick well. I had many issues with it.But this play set solves it all. It has mobile puppet play with backgrounds. Like the wall for humpy dumpy, log for the green and speckled frogs, spout for Itsy bitsy spider, barn for old McDonald had a farm and more!It even has great details that add to the experience like 3 separate bags of wool for baa baa black sheep, an umbrella, rain clouds, and water for Itsy bitsy spider and other details. So you can really act out the story in detail. And you can place background pieces on the back of the storage pocket and then move the characters on popsicle sticks around the background like in Humpty Dumpty or 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed.Even better, it includes a booklet with lyrics as well as a suggested back story, really making this more elaborate and encourages little minds to think about the story and stimulates their imaginations. You could even have older kids play act their own stories or fractured fairytales, which is altering details, characters and endings to popular stories. This stimulates so much creativity, comprehension and more!The storage pockets with pictures of some of the items from each nursery rhyme is the cherry on top. Its pockets are large enough to hold all the felt pieces for each story, although it is quite thick when folded up. It even has a little tag on ironing suggestions. It also has hooks if you would like to hang this toy instead of folding it up. I just need to find some wall space or a spare door to put it on.But as for helping children understand stories and the art of storytelling and play acting, this is an excellent and comprehensive set. I actually prefer this over having a puppet stage with hand puppets as the kids tend to be the audience rather than the participants. This set allows the kids to be in control or to participate in the story telling, which helps reading/story comprehension. I bought this set to use for my child with Down syndrome who is doing early reading but struggles with reading or story comprehension sometimes. He requires visual explanations, and then he will say, “oh! I understand!” And it makes me so proud of him with everything he’s been learning. And I have a feeling this will be a jewel in our treasure box of making learning fun.

These are a reasonable quality and add a really fun element to typical story time for kids. We had to hang ours really high up so that the kids didn't play with them and use/lose the pieces when it wasn't time to interact with it.ProsVibrant colorReasonable velcro stickinessMade of fairly good quality felt and reinforced hanging hardware bracketsI like that there is an included manual that aids in additional educational content and material, like fuller and longer stories, questions to ask, etc.I had originally thought from the description listing that it had 70 velcro dots meant that they would need to be put together. Thankfully, that is not so and the velcro is pre-applied to both the images and the wooden sticks, making set up much easierThe pocket organization is a lifesaverConsWhen setting them up, the story images come on a pull apart mat to pop the images out from. Since it is felt, if you aren't careful, you can sort of result in felt pulls from where the images separate from their cut outs for set upSome of the story images are extra large and don't fit in the pockets well, so we just stick those on the outside so as not to block the images or access of the other stories as muchSome of the stories have odd amounts of included felt images (e.g. the itsy bitsy spider has an added bush, two spiders, separate rain and splash puddle, the waterspout, and the sun but yet old macdonald does not have the farmer for the story so we use the man from the baa baa black sheep story)While there aren't enough popsicle sticks to use for all of the stories at one time, it isn't often that you would need that many and there are more than enough for one or two stories at a time. Some of the stories are easier to tell with the felt images and facilitate switching between them more easily than others. Also, a pet peeve is that the five little speckled frogs are not speckled. Additionally, it would be nice if there was a fold out blank or plain scenery piece of felt at the bottom of the organizer for fun, creative and imaginative play to create original or combination stories (or even just a place to put the images from the included stories so that you could choose from popsicle stick puppets or a story board method of story telling). Regardless of additional suggestions, this set makes age old nursery rhymes come alive in a dynamic and interactive way. It is a great value for the money and is good for home, educational, or gifting use.
