When I saw this cherry pitter, I was looking forward to trying it because I've thought about getting one for years. It arrived very well packaged and quickly, so I tried to buy some cherries to try it out. Unfortunately, I can't find any in our stores.However, I did look the product over carefully and noticed that the red top piece is only 1 piece. To pit the cherries, you press it and the plastic pieces that will pit the cherries extend out and push the pits into the bottom compartment. When the plastic pieces go back into the red top piece, they will have cherry juice on them. Unfortunately, there is no way to clean the inside of the red top except to run lots of water through it, but then there isn't a good way to dry it. I think this is an issue because mold can grow inside, and you couldn't see it or clean it.So, for me, that makes this a 1 or 2 times use only product which is a shame because otherwise it looks great.

This cherry pitter sounds good in theory however in actual practice it leaves something to be desired. The plastic is lightweight and cheap feeling, I would expect that it will start to crack before too long with repeated use. The plunger takes a fair amount of force to actually punch through 7 cherries. Sometimes the pits don't drop completely through making it necessary to check each cherry if you are going to juice them in a blender. The top part with the little plungers does not come apart for cleaning and get small bits of cherry skin stuck in it.

I’ve always wanted to get a cherry pitter, but now that I finally have, I realize my timing was really off. Cherry season is still a few months away, so I will be prepared when it gets here. But in the meantime I thought I could use this for olives, but apparently all olives come pitted now! Who knew? Even Kalamata and Castelvetrano!So this is going to have to stay in my cabinet, while I wait impatiently to get fresh cherries and update this review. Until then, it gets 5 stars because it looks like it will do what it’s supposed to, and it’s cute!

I hate to pile on to all the other negative reviews but while this pit removing tool does technically work, it is impossible to clean properly. Tweak the design and reintroduce it, I'll buy the next one! I'm the meantime I'll get back to spitting out the pits like I usually do...

Place the cherries in, simple mash and you get a pit free cherry. Easy to clean and store away.. all manual labor.

This product is a great idea that is poorly designed. I have used these things before and have found them to be a great asset in the kitchen. The product saves time which is always a plus. While this product does pit the fruit adequately the problem arises with the way this particular pitter's top is designed. Once you are done using it there is no way to clean the red top portion. You just hold it down and extend the prongs and clean them but there is no way to clean the inside of the product's pump other than flushing it with water. Then there is no way to tell if all the residue has been cleaned out. When you are dealing with fruit it is particularly important to clean out all the residue so that mold cannot grow inside the product. There is no way to tell if the top is clean once you are done with it and if mold does grow inside it can make you and yours very sick. Until that design flaw is corrected I would not recommend this product.As a functioning product this cherry pitter works great and deserves five stars but the lack of being able to adequately clean it is an obvious design flaw that needs to be addressed before this can be considered a product worthy of purchase. Short of that you will be risking illness due to the lack of access during the cleaning process. If you are willing to take that risk then this product should fit your needs. If not look elsewhere.
