We have an old cabin with an old chimney and fireplace. In the wintertime the cold air finds its way through the chimney into the living room and creates cold air drafts which are not nice at all and make enjoying your cozy winter night a nightmare.This draft stopper helps to seal the chimney and keep the cold air at bay. The only thing I wish they would do is to send it as a full piece since folding it makes it less stable. But all in all a great tool. Thanks!

I got this for our fireplace that doesn't have a damper in place to keep air from leaking out of the house. It does together super easily, and feels reasonably sturdy. It is made of a sort of messy flocked material that seems to leave fuzzy "dust" everywhere, but I think it should vacuum out pretty well. The handles extend in two different places so you can reach up into your chimney. Unfortunately, the hole in ours is angled in such a way that this flue plug won't fit with the handles attached, unless I can possibly bend some bolts in place to mount the handles at a 45º angle. The plug itself is soft and flexible, but also stiff enough that I think it should stay in the hole really well once it's in place. I haven't priced having a new damper installed, but other plugs seem to be priced similarly. If this fits your dimensions and will allow a couple of handles to stick out about a foot and a half perpendicular to the flue hole, then I don't have a problem recommending this.

Product seems to be of good quality but missing 2 screws. Without the screws, the item is pretty much worthless. There is only 2 courses of action - can attempt to go to the hardware store and find screws that fit or return the item.

This flue plug works very well. The pad is very thick but still flexible enough to match the contours of your fireplace flue. I had to cut a slot to allow it to fit around the damper handle and it cut easily with a sharp razor knife. I did not use the extendable handles as the pad wedged into place very well but the handles look well made. They are extendable and feel strong.
