Your cart is empty.Hazel Shell Chips is a renewable all natural product made from 100% hazelnut shells. Hazel Shell Chips is best used in potted plants, flower beds, gardens, & walkways. Spread a layer of Hazel Shell Chips on top of your soil to create a decorative ground cover or amend the shell into your soil for aeration & drainage. Hazelnut Shell Chips holds moisture; keeping potted plants and flowerbeds moist throughout warm days. In addition, hazelnut shell keeps weeds to a minimum, compacts well and adds beautiful contrasting color against surround succulent plants. The shells will biodegrade within 5-7 years however to keep a vibrant amber color it is recommended a new layer is added seasonally. Hazel Shell Chips is also used in aquatic grow mediums. Our product allows aeration for the roots to grow freely around the shell & flourish. I use these as a slug and snail deterrent. They work, but the slimy beasts are smarter and go up on the water lines that are draped over my pots. I decided to go with slug bait.These absolutely work though.I think they'd work better on the ground than in pots.

Used these in my planters for local, waterwise plants. This mulch doesn't absorb much water, so there's less risk of rot than with wood chips or straw. Also, I like the look, it's a nice texture. I didn't notice any contaminating material, pests, or mold in the bag, so the quality control, storage, and packaging are also good.

I live in zone 8b, I used this for outdoor plants that needed more moisture as well as new bushes. I wished they sold larger sizes

These shells are great for protecting your plants from slugs and snails. The sharp edges of the shells prevent them from reaching your plants.
