It fits way too sloppy to ensure a precise gear mesh. I should have returned it before it reminded me to review. I bought another from sewing parts online and it has a much better fit. I’m sure it would run for a while, but the set screw would push it off center a little so the teeth would not mesh consistently and wouldn’t spin true. Shaft diameter was 0.312”, gear I removed was 0.314”, this was not even a smooth bore and averaged 0.318”. I didn’t feel that the teeth profile were as crisp either. Call it only 0.004” bigger, but the sloppy fit was obvious. Take it for what you will.

Seems more durable plastic than the original brittle 70s black plastic.Photo 1: new gear installedPhoto 2: original broken gear

It is correct for the machine. Not everyone will be able to replace this part you should be mechanically inclined and have a few tools watch the boring YouTube video

The id. Is .003 inch oversized and poorly finished. [See pic.]. The plastic gear is off concentricity with the hub by .017 inch. wich is a "country mile" pertaining to gear mesh. For those two facts, when installed it intermittently binds with the driving gear. The seller did respond promptly and after all that was said refunded me in full.Update: It turns out, after the seller contacted me assuring a full refund, I have not been refunded. I will take this up with Amazon and see where I get.

This bevel gear for a Singer sewing machine was sold as a direct replacement for my old gear that had stripped a couple of teeth. Initially when fitted it jammed against its mating gear making it very difficult for the machine to rotate. I relieved the metal boss so that it would fit with a small backlash but the gear was so eccentric on its boss (or the hole was drilled off centre) that the backlash was so great 180 degrees apart that the motor run unevenly and noisily that I ditched this gear and brought a 'genuine' Singer replacement that worked perfectly.

Had to adjust the hight slightly to make it fit my machine, but I'd rather have to remove some material than have to add! Works perfectly now!

Replaced the gear in my sewing machine. It was quite a process, and took all of my patience, but it is done!It is unfortunate that this gear is not to be found made from metal. I am certain I will be replacing this plastic gear once again when it wears out.

The gear is assembled poorly and the gear itself wobbles up and down causing inconsistent gear mesh. I wouldn't recommend this as it is a low quality aftermarket part. I don't expect it to last long on my singer 457

l'engrenage a été monté et fonctionne.. l'ancien était tenu par une goupille, celui ci se fixe par une vis sans tête.. je conseille de percer légèrement un des trous sur l'axe afin que la vis se positionne mieux et assure un meilleur maintien
