I’ve had a few of these types of fans in the past and this one doesn’t open and close very easily because of the fan material. It also doesn’t have that good “clack” sound. While it might loosen up and open easier, the material makes closing it properly pretty difficult.

Don't get me wrong. This is a beautiful fan. If you are looking for a fan to simply be a fan, this is perfect. If you are looking for a fan that pops, this is not the one. The vinyl material is far to thick to make the popping noise. It is well made and really moves air if you are using it as just a fan.

I got this for my line dancing that I want to do this summer. The fan is very large. It is iridescent. It is not see through. If you are using it for clacking be warned that it takes a lot of force to open it fast.

I love these clacking fans that I use in my line dancing class. We have a special dance that needs a clacking fan. We carry it throughout the dance and fan it out repeatedly to the music. They are easy to carry and fan out well with a nice, hard snap for the clacking sound. Perfect!

My child is a green belt and this is the point where she starts weapons, one of which is the fan. She took this with her to class yesterday and within minutes of starting her form, The fabric detached from the frame. She said that she flipped it open and closed maybe three or four times before it basically started disintegrating.There is no hitting involved, it's basically choreographed movements where they flip the fans open and closed. Extremely poor quality, definitely don't recommend these.
