WOW! This thing is big. When I opened the box and started putting it together I realize just how big this thing was. It took me a little while to put it together, but once I figured out how to put it together in the right order, it worked out just fine. The directions weren’t really helpful, but I managed to figure it out. Back to the size of this thing…. it will work really well with product photography. You can do some portrait work with it. It’s just a great big piece of equipment to put by your subject. But, as you know, the larger, the diffuser the better the light. I do both pro photography and portrait work, so I’m sure that I’ll use this a lot. It matters real easily to a tripod or a light stand

This is a fairly large clamshell light reflector at 60cm x 180cm (around 23 " x 70"). Note that this is just the reflector and you need your own stand. There are instructions, but it's a single, one-sided page with a few pictures. If you look at the online web pictures you get the best sense of how to put together the parts. The first thing to note is that for the large 70" clamshell it takes THREE curved bars to form the TOP EDGE and a similar 3 curved bars to form the BOTTOM EDGE.Lay out all the parts to see what you have:> 4 curved tubes that have the silvery metal bumps at one end> 2 curved tubes that have a hole in the center but don't have the metal bumps (just matching holes)> 2 straight rods> 1 metal bar that has screws at each end and a silver nub that goes into the angle mount> 1 angle adjustable mount> 2 different reflectors, one black/silver and one gold/white> carrying bag for everythingFirst off, take a look at the reflectors. The black reflector has the pocket edges that allow you to fit it onto the frame. The gold/white reflector has Velcro all around the edges of the cloth and you use this to affix it to the black one. All the bars have to be assembled concurrently with the reflectors pockets. You place the bars with the metal bumps at the extreme L and R ends of the TOP EDGE and use the curved one that is without the metal bumps as the connector. Do the same for the Bottom Edge piece. These form the Top and Bottom Edges of the clamshell. The long curved Edges go onto the metal bar that is held by the adjustable mount. The angle adjustable mount goes on your stand (which you supply). The metal bar goes into that. That same metal bar is what holds the Top Edge piece and the Bottom Edge piece. The straight rods go into the holes at the extreme right and left and form Left and Right Edges of the clamshell. I found that some of the holes were a wee bit too small and I had to force the rods to fit.I wanted this because there are advantages to a clamshell over a flat reflector. I'm not sure how often I will use this, but the price is very good and I'm someone who likes to be ready for anything. I don't think this is something to take in the field, for the reasons that others have noted (time to assemble, not stable for weather and wind).

This is a fairly large, curved reflector for studio use. It comes with a carrying case but it’s pretty time consuming to assemble the unit so this is not something I’d take on remote shoots unless I really needed it. It comes with the reflector, frame, main reflector sheet with silver/black and attachable gold/white sheet. Curved design allows for even reflections around the object and bounces the light pretty well. It’s not collapsible and assembly could be little challenging but overall, great reflector for the studio. Recommended.

Ridiculous pain to assemble. I suggest once you do, make sure you have the surface you want showing and don't take it apart again. It's flimsy, the materials are cheap all around, and some of the stitching has already torn. The only bonus is that it does offer negative fill and a softer diffusion panel, which are unfortunately negated by the fact that it's such a pain to assemble. The only reason it gets two stars is because it CAN do a job once you have it set up.

This made a huge difference in my work. The frame is solid, and the fabric is kept taut so you don't have any distortion in the reflection. Putting it together the first time took a bit of figuring out so I didn't damage anything, but after that it's a smooth process. I don't personally have the space to just leave it together, but the takedown is super easy. I like that the white diffusing or gold reflecting panel goes onto the silver panel with velcro, it makes changes during the shoot super simple. It's important to know that this kit includes everything except for the stand. The joint to attach to a stand is provided, but I had to use a microphone stand when testing it out. It worked, but was certainly not sturdy enough for repeated use. Considering that you'll have to buy a stand as well, I'd say this is a decent deal, if you're okay with the additional cost of the stand.

I have wanted one of these clamshell reflectors for a long time. You can do some really cool things with portraits, just a couple lights, and use this as a fill reflector just outside of your frame. Lots of options for adding color or keeping it neutral with the 4-in-1 setup. One thing should be noted: it does not come with a light stand. I was able to figure that out before I ordered it and I have enough stands for it to not be a problem for me but keep it in mind so aren't surprised
