I really like the silicone around the base of the lyre. The lyre itself is very sturdy in its construction. I noticed one of the pictures shows it attached to the joint right above the bell of the clarinet. Being a clarinet player of 40 years, lyres do not go at the joint near the bell. Once you put on a flip folder it creates an imbalance in the horn pulling the bell of the horn downward and forcing the mouthpiece against the players front teeth as well as placing a lot of pressure on the right thumb join that supports the clarinet. This can cause many issues in Embouchure, staying in tune and overtime, tendonitis of the right thumb. Lyres are meant to be attached at the joint between the upper and lower joints to keep the balance of the horn. When I attempted to place this lyre in the appropriate place, the two joint would not fit together properly as the lyre was hitting some of the keys as well as prevented other keys from being moved. If you are looking for a good lyre for a clarinet, Keep looking, This is just not the one.

This is listed as being for both clarinet or trumpet. Technically you could use it on a trumpet, but I worry about the amount of clamping force necessary to use this on a trumpet bell, especially if the lyre gets bumped in a typical pep band setting (it might crush the bell in a bad bump). For clarinet, it works okay for students with very good vision. We couldn't get it to work at the middle joint of the clarinet (between the left- and right-hand sections where most clarinet lyres tend to clamp)--the bridge key couldn't clear this. Instead, we had to put it below the right hand, which puts the music further away. Most of my students were fine with this, and it was ultimately secure there.Hopefully it will last. The metal of the music clamp portion feels very thin.
