The 1/2" square shaft is a little too large and doesn't fit into any 1/2" square drive socket that I have. I measured the shaft with a digital caliper and got 0.512".

A few months ago I starting working with plumbing equipment and needed to tap out some metal/plastic and other materials. This is a quality tap. I've seen no degradation after working it through metals such as iron, copper and others.

Worked perfectly to clean out and recondition a damaged 1/2" NPT thread on an acrylic calcium reactor. Saved a delicate yet vital and expensive piece of aquarium equipment.Just clean and relube the cutting threads so it will be like new and ready for use after long-term storage.

This worked great... Shower arm broke off flush with the wall. Used a 1/2 superior tools internal pipe wrench and that did nothing, but this thing worked like a charm and it re threaded as well. Very pleased with this tool

Great price and much better quality than I expected. I have only used it on plastic and PVC so can't vouch for it's ability to cut metal, but it certainly looks like it would be fine....
