From the Manufacturer

Whether you are a full-time professional or a part-time woodworking enthusiast, discover the unlimited possibilities of template routing with a CMT Pattern Bit. Pair up these double fluted bits with your choice of template to produce cabinet and furniture pieces, signs, toys and any other creative project. Carbide tipped to last longer, CMT Pattern Bits are equipped with the bearing above the cutter letting you work with the template on top the wood. This gives you a clear view of what you are routing so you can work confidently and accurately. Many complicated template jobs that are usually done with a band-saw or a scrollsaw can be just as easily and efficiently carried out with a CMT top bearing Pattern Bit. To avoid unnecessary damage to the template or the bit, make sure to set the cutter lower than the template. Safety tips: Make sure your router is in top condition. The template must be securely fastened to the work piece. When choosing a bit, carefully consider the thickness of the template and all the implications of the cut. Opt for the shortest bit possible for the project you are working on.

I used this to cut a hole in a butcher block countertop for an undermount workstation sink and to scribe a countertop to a wall.

Worked well, but the tip chipped after about 10 minutes of usage. Had success with CMT bits before, so I assume this was just a defect.

Niente da dire, le frese CMT sono le migliori in assoluto, ne ho acquistate parecchie nel corso degli anni ed ormai non provo neanche a vedere quelle di altre marche.

CMT is synonymous with quality and longevity in my opinion. I have used this bit on a Porter Cable plunge router and plunged the full 2" length and this sucker had no problem cutting through the cedar posts I was mortising. It is an amazingly sharp tool and definitely does a good job. I have bought a number of CMT bits since this one and continue to be amazed at their ability to hog away material quickly and cleanly.
