I've been using Coats and Clark sewing thread for more years than I care to count and have never been disappointed with its performance until now. I like to quilt with cotton thread on cotton fabric rather than polyester on the same. This color is perfect for my next project (a quilted wall hanging for an anticipated grandson), where white thread would have been too obvious and navy blue stitches would have vanished into the fabric. The color suits perfectly; however, the quality of the thread is just not the same as their older thread. I have an older spool of white (manufactured in Egypt which is 100% cotton) and is so tightly wound and so stiff that it is very easy to thread the small eye of a #11 quilting needle. This new thread (made in Mexico of 65% polyester covered with 35% cotton)is thinner, flimsier, and splits very easily when trying to thread the same needle, causing much frustration. I started my project, so I guess I'm stuck with it. I will look for another brand next time I need hand quilting thread.
