EDIT: I'm updating this review due to great customer service I received after receiving the broken item. The seller quickly sent a replacement that arrived in perfect condition. As soon as I opened the box I noticed the lens for the dial wasn't where it belonged, but was loose in the case. This had caused some pretty significant scuffs to the plastic but it still would have been useable, had it not been for the fact that when I tried to set the lens back in place, it was far too small for the groove it needed to sit in.I wish I could say more about the function of the unit but it was immediately returned.

This seems to be the exact same device as is available from a variety of reasonably reputable vendors (as the title says), for a good bit less (as of this writing).Functionally it seems fine. It seems as concentric as you'd hope. No problems with finding center. I'm sure you could pay a ton more for a more precise one, but this definitely feels like an excellent trade-off.One weird problem, if you can even call it that, is that the stabilizing arm (the arm that you screw in to prevent the body from spinning) is clearly intended to fit into counterbores in the body, but the boss is too big to actually do that, which also means that the thread engagement isn't great. But this is hardly a precision part of the mechanism, there are still enough threads, and it's almost certainly possible to get it to fit correctly with some emery paper. Little more than a curiosity, really. The two sheet-metal wrenches it includes to tighten various parts are annoying to use. They tighten bolts where the heads sit above their surfaces and are basically the same thickness at the wrench, which means that it's really easy for the wrench to slide off. You've probably already got another wrench that will solve this problem, though. The zeroing ring could be nicer, but I don't know that zeroing it is really even relevant at all. It's not bad, though. It's just the one plastic part when the rest is metal. The case it comes in is nice, too: well-constructed blow-molded case with pretty good foam rubber padding.

I got this tool to use in my milling machine, but you could also use it in a drill press if you have enough Z axis. The different probes are good for finding centers on all kinds of round objects and holes. With this type of indicator it's now easy to find the center of something large, like a brake rotor hat, and then I can start running my CNC (or manual) routine from the center of my design. The case is well padded and keeps the tips safe. Only drawback is the amount of Z axis the gauge portion takes up, it's almost as much as my big Haimer.
