Sometimes, a piece of music comes along that is so dumb it's brilliant. The Strokes are a recent example. The Cobraman EP is just that. Blazingly funny, irreverant and infectious, Cobraman might be compared to Doctor Octagon or the more hip-hop Beck material with its cheap, 80's-style casio beats laced with even cheaper bass lines and space sounds that create a tripped out enviornment to what is really important - the eccentric vocals of Cobraman. "Finger You Girl" might be the funniest song I've heard in a while and maybe the catchiest. "Taste for Danger" bleeds with a boyish adrenaline that will charm even the most skeptical hip-hop fan. Get a sense of humour and drop the needle. Hip-hop just got more interesting.
