These are very sturdy, and a good size for someone to pick up and play around with. It's interesting and fun, and makes a wonderful gift

I remember these from back in the 70s. They’re mesmerizing. Well built and work well. Every turn makes a different picture.

I had one years ago; they are back and I wanted another. I was surprisedto find it is much sturdier than it looks. It looks like plastic. It's glass, trimmed with metal and then beveled glass. With the easel feet, you can experiment with your display. Hope it continues to hold up! I LOVE IT!

My son had a "lava lamp" on his wish list, but this struck me as more practical.Works great as advertised. A nice sandscape that one can stare at. Helps calm.My only beef is that the stand is two little pieces that you often have to fiddle a bit when you want to flip the scene and start anew.

Back a million years ago when we were little our grandparents had a toy from a million years before that. Wham-o Magic Window had belonged to our aunts and uncles. We were mesmerized by the silky sand flowing and dancing in the plastic oval window. Every once in a while we would reminisce about our favorite childhood toys and my brother would bring up Magic Window. So being a fantastic sister I decided to find him one for his birthday..... Did you know that WMW has appreciated.... about a dollar for everyone of those million years. Being cheap but nice I went to Amazon to find a knock off and I found Coitak Sandscape and took a chance. HOT DAMN AND HALLELUJAH...... This thing is just like the Magic Window and the proof is in the pudding because now if you want to find my fat head brother he's is lost staring at his damn thing like Robert De Niro in Awakenings. Sooooooo we gained a lovely sandscape but lost my brother in the process. I do kind of enjoy the silence!

If you miss the Magic Window toy from the late 70's, you'll probably like this. It has fluid inside, so it's not exactly like the toy, but the blue sand will make you nostalgic. :) And if you liked Magic Window, then you probably want to manipulate the sand flow, not just watch it fall (so ignore reviews that say the sand falls too quickly). This is my first "modern" sand window. I was going to give it as a gift, but I liked it too much and kept it, Lol. If I had known I'd like it so much, I would've looked for one a bit bigger with a more traditional frame. The clear frame on this one is pretty but hard to hold. About 5 minutes after opening it, I dropped it on a carpeted slab floor from a height of about 3 feet. (No damage!)Note: the size of the whole thing is 5" x 7", but the area with sand is actually about 3.5" x 5".

When I was young I had a "Magic Window" by Wham-o; I hoped this item would be like that. I read the description of this and many similar items so I was aware of the bubbles. I just didn't know whether they would improve the experience with this toy or detract from it, in comparison to the Magic Window. The "sand" in the Magic Window flowed freely, smoothly, and quickly; it looked much like water flowing from side to side as you turned the toy. The bubbles in this toy slow down the movement of the sand. I bought this as a gift but when it arrived I removed it from the package in order to see how it works. Frankly, I was disappointed; I found it boring. I had planned to purchase one for myself but have decided not to; I would hate it because it takes so long for the sand to move. Also, it looks as if the variety of views formed will be less than the Magic Window, which changed constantly and quickly. I found myself impatient for the sand in this toy to escape the boundary formed by the heavy line of bubbles. When I ordered this I planned, that if it met my hopes, I would order one for myself and at least one other as a gift; I thought I might order one for each of my grandchildren for Christmas. This will not be happening. If you just want an interesting conversation piece to sit on your desk, something to distract your attention momentarily you might like this item. But if you are looking for a replacement for the very interesting and varied Magic Window, I suggest you not bother with this. I am still going to give this as the gift for which I ordered it, tomorrow, and if he likes it, great; if he doesn't, I'll probably return it. Depends on how uninteresting he finds it. Someone who has never experienced the Magic Window may not dislike this as much as I do.In spite of my disappointment, I gave it three stars. In fairness, there was no deception in the description; there is no attempt made to hide the bubbles and, as far as I can tell, it is exactly as described. Except that when you type in Wham-o Magic Window to search this product comes up and this is NOT the Magic Window. So. It came quickly and seems to be as described. I haven't had it long enough to evaluate the workmanship except that on initial inspection it seems well made. I'll try to remember to come back and update this after the receiver of the gift opens it and has a chance to evaluate it. But I don't promise because I tend to forget about such things. I'm only writing this because I received a request in my email.I am very sorry to be so disappointed as I had hoped this would be a replacement for the Magic Window. I guess there is nothing to replace it.
