Where We Started

It all began when we created the first portable, gas-powered lantern that illuminated the first evening football game west of the Mississippi. In WWII, our camping stoves transformed the way soldiers ate in the field. We continued to revolutionize the outdoors with our cooler manufacturing in the 1950s, and in the decades that followed we added tents, sleeping bags, lighting, and more.

Where We Are Today

After 120 years, Coleman gear is everywhere you are: on the trail, by the lake, at a tailgate, or in the middle of a music festival. We're always around a place where there are friends, coolers, and campfires. So, grab a tent, fire up a grill, and pull up a chair. The Outside Is Calling. Answer it.

We finally got to test this out and it’s nice. It is great to take camping, it’s not too heavy. It worked well for all sorts of things we were able to make coffee and then breakfast really quickly on this. It’s easy to clean up and pack up. The propane tanks are light and they last quite a while as long as you are being conservative on their usage. It’s got a lot of value to it. The refills are easy to find too, they sell them everywhere for pretty cheap overall this is a great value and it’s built really well. It is a little on the heavier side so I wouldn’t love to drag this around hiking but for your standard camping trip it works very well.

This Coleman camping stove comes with everything you need for a two-burner meal at a camping site or sporting event parking lot. If you opt out of carrying the cast iron flat/grill plates the whole thing is surprisingly light and easy to carry with a greppable handle. The additional grill plates have their own carry bag and add some weight. The burner grate is one piece and heavy duty, and you can have a single burner and flat plate on the other side. There is a convenient spot to hold the gas cylinder connector. The lighting mechanism works intuitively. In action, the stove is ready to go once unpacked. A quick connect to a standard gas cylinder (widely available at grocery stores and gas stations), a turn of the auto light knob, and you have heat. Some older versions have difficulty with lower heat, but this one seems to have it dialed in a bit better. The heavy-duty grate is also appreciated over the prior lighter version. Coleman does offer some stoves that have more surface area while eliminating the built-in wind screen, but this current model hits a sweet spot for cooking surface area, wind protection, and portability. Clean-up is easy with the grate removed.I would not hesitate to purchase any Coleman stove. I have passed down multiple versions to friends and relatives that are still in use many years later. This model contains all the things you might want for any future use.

Quick takeThis Coleman Cascade 3-in-1 camp stove is a well made and powerful propane stove from a trusted brand with nice-to-have cast iron grill and griddle accessories. It can be fueled by convenient, but small 1 lb. propane cans or by more economical 5 to 20 gallon refillable propane tanks via an adapter hose. It is, however, very difficult to connect to a low pressure RV propane port.Detailed Review.I first bought a Coleman gas stove in 1985 and it served admirably for decades of occasional use. The familiar ritual of pumping up the tank and priming the burners with liquid fuel was a fond memory. Eventually the gas tank and pump failed and I adapted it to use propane. It finally rusted beyond salvaging and I put it in the recycle bin a few years ago. I was excited to get the chance to try this new Coleman 3-in-1 stove when it showed up on Vine.Construction and assembly:The Cascade 3-in-1 Camp stove is a new, deluxe camp stove model from Coleman, a well known brand that almost anyone who has been camping is familiar with. The stove arrived well protected and in flawless condition. There were no manufacturing defects that I could find. The stove is mostly made of powder coated steel with cast iron grates, griddle, and grill. The latching mechanism is made of a solid block of aluminum. The stove cover stands upright when the side guards are extended to provide some wind protection, but the side guards are surprisingly shorter than on most previous Coleman stoves. A handle is made out of a recess on the underside of the stove. The stove with grate weighs 13 lbs. The griddle and grill accessories together add another 9 lbs. This is not a light weight stove.Minimal assembly is required before use. All you need to do is lay the iron grate on the stove, connect the pressure regulator, and screw on a Coleman propane cannister. The griddle and grill accessories fit directly onto the grates with interlocking tabs.Starting the stove is simple. Just turn on the burner valve until propane begins to flow and press the ignitor button. A piezoelectric generated spark is sent to both burners and you are cooking.Performance and fuel usage:The stove easily held a large 12 inch frying pan simultaneously with a 10 inch pan. The burners are both the same size at 3.25 inches in diameter. The propane flame spreads out beyond the burner but the heat will be concentrated in the center of larger pans. The propane flame is noisier than a natural gas flame and is also more difficult to see in bright light.I found the stove to be quite powerful. Coleman says the two burners put out a total of 24,000 BTU. For comparison, my home gas stove's largest burner puts out 12,000 BTU and the smallest only 6,500 BTU. For an idea of what that means in real life, I used the Coleman stove on highest power and it brought a quart of room temperature water in a covered pot to a full boil in six and a half minutes. That's faster than my home stove. The burners have plenty of power to cook anything that you would be able to cook on your home range.I measured the propane used in that six and a half minutes by weighing the cannister before and after. In those 6.5 minutes, 1.2 ounces of propane were consumed, which extrapolates to about 90 minutes per one pound cannister using one burner on full power. Presumably that would drop to 45 minutes if you were using both burners on full power. Although the one pound propane cans are convenient and portable, they don't last very long and you should plan on packing extra cannisters for any trip.Alternatives to Expensive 1 lb. Propane Cans:The one pound Coleman propane cans are convenient and widely available, but are expensive. You can fuel the Cascade 3-in-1 stove longer and more economically from a standard 5-20 gallon refillable propane tank by using an adapter hose to connect the tank to the pressure regulator on the stove. Coleman sells a five foot hose for just that purpose (Amazon ASIN:B0BXB8YRX8) and there are various generic knock offs. Refillable propane is currently running under three dollars per gallon (4.2 lbs of propane) which works out to under 75 cents a pound. In comparison, the 1 lb. Coleman cans currently sell for about five dollars each.If you own an RV with a quick connect propane port, you might think you could easily connect the Coleman stove to the RV port with an adapter hose as well. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Because the RV propane port is a regulated low pressure source, it won't provide enough pressure if connected to the stove's regulator which requires connection to a high pressure can or tank. If you could bypass the regulator and connect the RV port directly to the stove it would work, but the stove connection is a proprietary one for which I was unable to locate an suitable adapter hose either on Amazon or by searching online. Other adapters such as for the Coleman Roadtrip grill or Blackstone griddles will not fit. The Coleman stove connector has a female 9/16"-18 UNF thread which holds an inner connector with a backflow valve to the stove port. About the only way to get this custom connector is to cannibalize one from another Coleman 5430 regulator and jury rig a connection to a standard quick connect hose.Other observations:The ignitor tips are constantly in direct contact with the burner flames and get red hot during use. My home's gas stove does not do this. This makes me a little nervous that they will eventually corrode away and need replacement. The cast iron griddle and grill accessories do not come pre-seasoned. If you want to use them without food sticking badly, you should season them like any other cast iron cookware by coating them with a thin layer of vegetable oil and putting them in a 400℉ oven for an hour.Although the cast iron griddle and grill accessories are nice, they each have only a 9" x 9" cooking surface and don't hold that much food. If you need to cook up a bunch of pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc, you should get a full two burner sized griddle (preferably cast iron) to use with the stove. I also almost never use a grill pan and would have preferred it if Coleman had included a full size griddle in place of the smaller grill and griddle (or, better yet, a full size flippable griddle/grill combo).Threading a one lb. propane tank onto the regulator feels clumsy. The propane tank lying at an angle and taking up table space to the side of the stove also seems awkward and a kludge. The old gas stoves with their tank directly attached to the front of the stove was a much more efficient use of space.Since most folks won't use the camp stove that often, I would recommend getting a storage bag to protect it from dirt, dust, and bugs. Many are available on Amazon.

From the design, materials used, the way it's packaged, fit and finish, to the way it flawlessly works, this Coleman Camping Stove is the epitome of quality. The stove is packaged for protection. Every piece is wrapped in foam sheet and cardboard, and taped to ensure that its protection stays put. Then, the whole protected mass assembles into the perfect fit for the box that contains it. What's nice is that takingit all out of the box is quick. The entire stove is made of strong metals. I think the only plastic used are the knobs, and those are thick and chunky, not likely to break. Set up is a snap if you read the easy-to-understand instruction manual. The propane bottles are easy to get and connect. You can even use a 20lb propane tank with the proper adapter (not included).Even though there's quality metal construction throughout, because it's so well-balanced, it's not heavy to carry or move around with. It does come with a grilling plate and a griddle plate, which are made of cast iron. They have their own strong, zippered tough-bag that makes them easy to transport with the camp stove. It cooks food wonderfully. The burners are easily controlled, so you apply just the amount of heat you want. You can use your own pots and pans or the included heating plates. A bottle of propane lasts about an hour. And after cleaning up, everything locks down tightly to carry away with the integrated handle. If quality, ease of use, compactness, and functionality are important to you in a camp stove, this Coleman Cascade 3 in 1 Camp Stove is exactly what you're looking for.

Arrived in perfect shape - well packaged. I have been using various editions of Coleman stoves for 55 years and this stove is beautiful with some great improvements from the older ones I have. Fired up safely and effortlessly with 1 lb propane bottle. The cast-iron grills are fabulous and were easy to season - but as others have mentioned they are heavy and, practically, should be carried separately from the stove. The carrying case provided for the grills is excellent and will make the separate carrying/storing easy. The Coleman quality I expected; not disappointed. Excited to get out camping!
