This tortilla press is made of stainless steel and is as solid as I had imagined. After all, it weighs 18 pounds and has all the necessary parts to squash tortilla dough into rounds. The first time I used it, I made a flour tortilla recipe, letting the dough rest for two hours to make sure the gluten had relaxed. The tortillas flattened, but didn’t get thin. I had to complete them by hand rolling after pressing. The thickness wasn’t due to the gluten since I easily rolled out each to get them larger/thinner. But maybe it *was* the flour tortilla recipe, so I tried corn tortillas next. Same thing. No matter how I positioned the dough — middle, front, back, and rotating — the tortillas came out too thick. I had to use a rolling pin for every one. I used both the included parchment rounds and cut plastic bags, just in case that was the problem. Even though the plates look close together, they must not be close enough. I couldn’t find a way to adjust that.I see little purpose to a tortilla press that requires hand-rolling afterward. Yes, it sturdy and well-built, but in the end, that doesn’t matter.— Debbie Lee Wesselmann

This is made with high-quality materials and is very easy to use. It is a bit heavy, but like cast iron, stainless steel is a heavier metal, but not too heavy. you will need an area about. It does take up around a 14x9 area to store. That is giving a little bit of room around it. It is easy to clean. Until now bought my tortilla more often than not. This press makes it easy to make the perfect tortillas. It is well worth it

First impressions: this thing is beefy. It is flat, level, well-aligned, well-balanced. The welds look very good and it is a solid bit of pure stainless steel. The base is not 100% solid internally like the listing suggests but that’s a good thing because it is already quite heavy. There is also absolutely no slop in the hinges, I expect this to work very well. It even comes with a few parchment paper rounds to use.I also like the stops for both the top plate and the handle: neither will swing far enough open to hit the counter to scratch anything, the only thing that touches the counter is the rubber feetIt is a bit pricey but for the sheer mass of stainless steel in this thing it makes senseAfter a few uses I will edit my review if there are any issues but it seems like it will last a long time

Build quality doesn’t equal functionality. Doesn’t press dough thin enough nor does it get tortillas anywhere near the 11 inch surface area size. The actual lid that is responsible for pressing tortilla is too thin and actually bends when pressing down on the handle, making it impossible to get tortillas nice and flat. I didn’t expect that considering the base is so hefty and the handle is substantial. If they fix that it might be worth it but for now I’d pass. Returning this unfortunately and going back to my trusty cast iron press.

The tortilla press is big and gets the job done. It is a little heavy but I think that is what helps it to smash the tortillas more efficiently. It is big enough to make big flour or corn tortillas about the size of a chipolata tortilla.

This review is for the Concord 11" Stainless Steel EL JEFE Commercial Grade Tortilla Press. 2 Gauge Thickness, 18 LBS. Perfect Maker for Flour or Corn Tortillas, Quesadillas, Roti, and much more!.I see I get the honor of the very first review. So WOW! I'm really impressed! I certainly didn't realize just how big this is! Yes the listing title says it's commercial grade, but ya never really know until you get it. Well this is the real deal right here folks! This has totally exceeded my expectations! This is the cadillac of presses right here! The polished mirror finish makes this a thing of beauty in a useful tool! This is a stainless steel unit that will work well and last a lifetime doing it! This thing wighs 18 Lbs! So although this unit is technically portable, I certainly won't be lugging it around LOL. You can use this to press dough balls quickly and can be used for more than just torillas! This great for making thin dough for pizza's, sopapilla's, fruit pies, meat pies, ravioli's, perogi's... any type of baked, boiled or fried dough foods! The press has nice stable rubber feet on it, everything about the press is heavy duty and will make using it easy for the perfect press of the dough everytime! I love the flat solid surface on it, easy to clean/sanitize! It comes with some sheets of parchment papers cut to size already, save some so you can cut your own to size or buy them. There's a listing here on Amazon for 220 parchments 12 inch size for $14, that's just what I saw with a quick look. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this! This may be more than what the average home cook needs or wants to spend, but as I said this will last a lifetime! Regular price $ 129.98 per the listing and worth every penny!
