I got this to monitor the O2 saturation of a cat with breathing issues. I chose this one specifically because it said in the description (not the title) that it could be used on the tongue or ear. However, the instructions clearly state it’s for the tongue and do not provide and instructions on the ear. In researching, it seems that the ear, or at least a cat’s ear, isn’t even really a viable place for an oximeter sensor. In short, the description lies. This could very well be a fine Oximeter; it did measure seemingly accurate results when I used it on my own finger and earlobe. So if that’s your need this will likely work well. However, my purchase was solely because this was advertised as able to be used on the ear and that was not the case, at least for any of my three cats (both light and dark colored). Here’s hoping they change the description.

Does not work on animals. The sensors are too weak as well as the laser to penetrate there skin and take a reading. Low quality sensor needs lots of light to get threw to get a reading. Does not work on kids either. The sensors are too weak to read the lower signal strength children give. Works but not a good product. Would not recommend having in your first aid kit because it is very unreliable.

I am returning this pulse oximeter immediately. It is highly inaccurate and unreliable. After placing it on my dog, I was getting what I thought was a very low reading. I then used it on myself and also received a very low reading. I then used a known accurate pulse oximeter on myself and confirmed at this device was off by five or six points, which is very significant and renders this device useless. I am well-versed in pulse oximeter levels in both dogs and humans. The instruction quote manual" was actually a folded sheet of paper printed in very, very small font. It was also written in very poor English. That alone is a red flag. I wasted two days waiting for this worthless product to arrive. I understand now why the disclaimers about relying on this device are almost as long as the instructions themselves. You get what you pay for, I guess.

Pulse oximeters generally don't work well on animals. This one is no exception. On some patients, it reads fairly well. On others, it is useless. But for an inexpensive unit, it works as well or better than others in its class. And it works well on my own finger. I suspect that, although it is labelled as veterinary, it is just a repackaged human unit. But it has a cheerful beep that usually comes on. I tell my assistant that it is like the dummy lights in your car. By the time it gets excited, trouble has been going on for awhile.

My grandfather has very calloused fingers from working in construction all his life so a traditional pulse oximeter wouldn't work on his fingers. When he was released from the hospital with Covid we used this on his ear lobe to check his oxygen levels. Worked great and his nurse was impressed with our ingenuity.

At first I was ready to put this in the dumpster as a FAIL. NO non sedated animal is going to allow you to place this on their tongue! The ear.... got no reading. I learned this: place it mid ear with the red light on the inside of the ear. It must stay solid red to read, certainly not speedy. You might need to move it around to a few different places to get a solid reading. At first I was getting SPO2 in the 80's, but consistent with pink tongue and gums. Play around with it and reposition it to find the "sweet spot" of your pets ear.

Product came quickly and it’s very portable and easy to use. Allows for pulse to have sound off or on. Hardest part is finding a good location on the pet but that has nothing to do with the machine. If having trouble, try spraying alcohol also. Battery life on it is good also, don’t have to change often (unless you leave the power on when not using).

Easy to use and portable. This pulse oximeter often gets a reading on small mammals and other tiny patients when our big fancy EKG & pulse oximeter cannot.
