This umbrella stand went together fairly easily but do assemble it on a table with the lattice vertical which helps hold the lattice slats together while you get it assembled. Came with extra assembly bits which is a nice touch. The result was a good fit, no gaps, and stood square on the four feet. Stable.Dark brown color is an opaque stain/paint but seems fairly durable, and repairable with a brown Sharpie if scratched to reveal the very light blond wood underneath.Compared to a raft of umbrella stand containers you see on Amazon, this one actually stands up on its own with an umbrella in it. Many you'll see labeled "umbrella stand" will fall right over if you put something tall like an umbrella in them. I've tried them, so avoid those. The lattice of nine ~3" spots for umbrellas helps stability too; you won't have everything you put in it crowded into a corner and weighing that corner to fall over.Actual measurements:62cm (24.75") to the top edge the umbrella leans against, but the metal pan bottom is 7cm (2.75") off the floor so the supportive height of the stand is 55cm (21,5") tall. It is another 4cm (~1.5") high for each of the corner posts which is how it ends up at 66cm (26") overall height. That's fairly close to the 25.75" height stated in the description. The photo shows it holding a regular 36" cane. The width is 28cm (11") square and the slots are each (7.25cm), a bit less than 3" square, so accurate to the 2.9" square as described. This is not the umbrella stand you want if you put your umbrella in it wet, leaving it half open so it will drain into the pan as it dries. The slots in this stand will require you close the umbrella fully before, or as, you drop it in. This stand is for people who let an umbrella dry fully open before you put it in the stand anyway, which is a better way to dry an umbrella. I value the way this stand's slots keep umbrellas or walking sticks from bunching up all in one corner. If you do want to drop an umbrella in there half open while it dries--which is perfectly reasonable with the metal drain pan--then look for the other umbrella stand Contemporary Home Living sells in a lighter walnut brown--it has no lattice so its top is just an open square. These stands are labeled Winsome Wood in the instructions, as sold by Contemporary Home Living, and Winsome Wood sells the other open stand under its own brand for a lot less than Contemporary Home Living sells it for, so that is why I removed one star from this review of an otherwise excellent umbrella stand: it's a bit expensive for what it is and likely a significant mark-up from Winsome Wood's own price.
