All of the paint on the threads cause the hook to cross-thread itself when trying to get it tight enough to secure my hatch. The other end bent terribly when trying to unthread the hook as well. I thought this would be better than my homemade vent lock made from a $2 turnbuckle I bought at Home Depot. I was wrong.Save your money.

It’s a great product and well made, but did not work on any of the doors on my transit connect van as the door locks were recessed too deeply and the barrel prevented the loop from reaching the catch.

I use this to prop open the back window while I drive (you're not supposed to do this, per the manufacturer) and it really cuts down on the turbulence inside the vehicle. Easy to install and snug fit.The only improvement I could recommend is using rubber or plastic to coat the hook ends to prevent wear.

Works as designed, however, with the paint on the threads, it was nearly impossible to loosen/tighten the device to the tailgate lock.After using a wire brush wheel on my Dremel to remove the paint, I was able to loosen/tighten the device as needed.1 star docked for the “extra” effort to remove the paint.

I was excited to get the item and then dismayed when it would not screw well in either direction and would get stuck intermittently. It was fortunate that I had not put it on my car b/c I doubt that I would have ever gotten it off. Great idea but it didn't work.

I used this 4" lock for a Ford Kuga double-lid boot, along with the 6" verson, while on holidays with 2 Red Setters. Both locks worked well on the twin boot lids to provide good, secure ventilation. The 6" version can be used on passenger doors as well but a shorter end-loop on the 4" version prevents it from working on the doors. A similar sized loop as on the 6" version would be needed on the 4" version to allow it to be used on passenger doors (hence my 4 star rating for the 4" version).

Easy to use, makes a hell of a difference in hot days or when your in any situation where you cant take your dog with you. Its great for a piece of mind knowing your dog is cool.
