This was a gift for my 8 year old granddaughter, and she loves it. She does need adult supervision when using it though, and I wish it had more clay as you go through it pretty quickly. It would be a good idea to purchase extra clay.

This is ok. Very messy. Make sure to put a towel down underneath or have a lot of paper towels ready. Clay is hard to work with unless really wet. Making it really wet makes it super messy though. The paint is awful! Even after following directions on how to paint, the paint peels off, after drying, of whatever you made. The machine itself is hard to clean if you don’t get to cleaning it right after you’re done with it. Fun for my daughter though. So, I guess that’s what matters.

I know there are reviews out there about the power of this device or how it works. But our 6 year old daughter absolutely loved it. I can remember working on a pottery wheel in middle school and it is not very easy to make cups and bowls and they collapse pretty easily. However, with this kit I like creative approach that they took to include a dome mold in the middle. It is a really practical way to make this easy and fun to use. You basically create the basic shape over the mold, then spray some water and your child can then use their hands for the final shaping. Sure it isn't the most powerful motor, but with the mold approach you don't really need it. The clay discs aren't the cheapest, but they do work well.Long and short I think this is perfect for a 6-8 year old.

When reviewing this I think people need to realize they bought a TOY. For a toy, this is good quality and easy to use. My 8 year old only needed assistance with the batteries. After that she was able to follow the directions herself and make several "pots" using the clay. This is obviously a toy and not something a true hobbyist would use, but it's great if you have a kiddo that likes to get creative and crafty.

My daughter had wanted a pottery wheel for a LONG time, I finally bought this one for her birthday. It came with plenty of clay to use, and instructions for things to make. The metallic paint is really pretty. It was a great gift! My only complaint would be that the entire thing moves when she turns on the spinning and puts her hands on the clay to smooth it. I have to hold it down so that it will stay in one place and not move all over the table. I might just duct tape it to the table! Other than that, it's good.

This was purchased for my 10 year old girl. She really loves it. It only has the 4 clay pieces, but you can and will need to buy more. It is creative for them and fun to make then paint. We ran out of clay in two days.the bad - they clay seems to be dryer then it should. So it cracks a lot when making stuff. You need more water then the directions say. It takes longer to dry then the directions say, but that may be because of the extra water we needed. the paint was kind of dry too, but add water and press on.The wheel is probably not needed, but it does add to the fun for the kids.

This is a pretty inexpensive toy, and I had read the reviews, so I wasn't expecting all that much. BUT my daughter was able to complete one of the projects, from start to finish, 100% on her own - and she had a blast doing it. The instructions for the seashell speaker she made only said to spray 10-12 sprays of water on it one time, which wasn't anywhere near enough. She had to continually spray the shell with water as she was forming it, using the majority of the water in the included spray bottle by the end. At times, holes would from, so she simply took clay from a thicker area and applied it to the holes. Now, the hard part is waiting for it to dry overnight so she can paint it :) I'll update with how that goes once she's finished. In the meantime, she is using the leftover clay from this project to form the letters of her name :)

Pros-Bought for my 8yo on her bday. Evidently I purchased 2 accidently. Jokingly I told here that once she gets good at it she could use the second one to teach her friends. She loves it. Making several of the suggested projects and even a few she came up with. Needless to say, she gave her first lesson to a friend last weekend's and this really opened up the ideas of future career choices to this highly philosophical 8y0. Was a great choice for her. Not as messy as I expected and the paints actually last through several projects.Only con- battery operated.
