My Husqvarna lawn tractor has only about 600 hours on it and the original starter just didn't cut it any more. So I replaced it with this new non-OEM starter which seems to have more torque that the original starter did. If it lasts as long as the original one did, I will be very happy.

I like the product and also like the fact that they include an extra drive gear in case one wears out. The only thing that confused me is that I was unsure if the extra gear was splined a little different, but it was the same. Word of caution,count the teeth on the old gear as best you can and make sure that the teeth spline together with no gaps between. If so,you bought the wrong starter. Also if the slide broke and the gear us jammed in the flywheel,remove the starter mount bolts to easily remove the gear. You will also need a wobble extension on the one mounting bolt as the angle is unforgiving for a straight extension.

Starter replaced OEM on JD lawn tractor. Works well, spins flywheel at breakneck speed. Noted many reviews complaining of plastic gears and misalignment. Both issues addressed with precautionary notes as follows; plastic spindle gear should be exclusively used with plastic flywheel gears. Mixing metal and plastic gears problematic for obvious reasons. All starters should be installed with proper 'gear lash'; add shims between starter bracket and engine body as required to achieve correct lash between flywheel and spindle teeth. Failure to obtain correct lash results in premature and catastrophic gear failures, metal or plastic.

My husband removed and replaced the old one with this new one. We noticed it didnt come with any instructions but thats no problem a quick YouTube video and it was all sorted out. Has been working great so far.

Receive quick and easy to install. Crank right up and mowed my yard. The next time I need to cut the grass starter just spin. Took my cover on the engine off only to see the gear was ate up. Said it had metal gear but was plastic, even the extra gear was plastic. Now back to the drawing board and replace starter. Lasted one week and one crank of the engine. Worst starter I've replaced in the last 40 years. Would not recommend. Save your money.
