This Cra-Z-Art Tracing Desk seemed like a fun idea since my 10-year-old loves to draw. But, I don't think the projection helps him draw any better than just looking at an image would. The first picture my son found that he wanted to draw was vertical, and this is set up for horizontal images. We tried to turn it sideways, but it doesn't really work well. Then, we tried a horizontal image, and that worked better but not great. It's not as easy to trace as if it was paper over a line drawing on his light pad.The drawings my son was interested in are more detailed. I think the type of images that would be best for this would be more like the simple line drawings you find in coloring pages. The size of the screen and markers don't seem made for kids to be able to copy more complicated images. It might have been helpful if they gave some guidelines and more examples for choosing pictures. Younger kids might like this better if you can find something easy for them to copy, and they don't have high expectations about the results. For older kids like mine who want to make nicer drawings, this might be frustrating.I also don't like that I have to take my Samsung Galaxy out of its case to fit it in the holder. That seems like a poor design. The overall sturdiness isn't great either, so I would be nervous having my son use my phone without a case when using the swing out arm.

The instructions were hard to follow and the pictures of the product were larger than the actual creative screen. I would not have bought this product if I know what I know now.

This would be a brilliant drawing set if it was a little studier in construction. I think as is, it might be best at the toddler age-but then again, its a little too sophisticated for a toddler. My phone fit okay in the holder but my son's didnt-he has an iphone and it was too big to hold it securely. My 7 yr old grandson wanted to push to hard with the marker which caused the screen thing to move and then the design was off. You can see in the manufacturer's video the person holds the screen while tracing the design.Grandson was too frustrated to really try any detailed drawing. For the price (currently at just under $20) its not bad, but I don't think will be a favorite drawing toy to go back to. Its definitely a toy. I thought it would be a little higher caliber.I do appreciate that it came with tracing paper, markers and pencils but again, the markers/pencils were the greatest quality in regard to brightness on the screen.I used alcohol to clean the screen

I really liked the idea of this, especially for my very artistic daughter. It just seems like a lot of steps to go through for one picture. And usually, the tracing doesnt turn out well (from the projection). It's cute for the price, but it could be better. My girl lost interest pretty quickly and went back to just free-handing.

I recently ordered the Cra-Z-Art Timeless Creations 2-in-1 Visual Art Designer for my granddaughter’s birthday, and it has quickly become one of her favorite gifts! She’s very creative, and this set captured her imagination. The tracing desk and lightbox feature are fantastic for assisting her in developing her drawing skills. I love how it engages her brain and encourages her creativity. The added benefit of the phone holder is that it allows her to record and post her drawing videos, which has boosted her confidence as she shares her artwork with friends and family. I highly recommend this art set for any child who loves to create. It’s a perfect blend of fun and learning, and I adore seeing my granddaughter so excited and inspired!

This is a fun drawing toy, for sure. I also think it’d work well to hold your phone while you draw. It could hold my iphone 16 pro without much wobble, but the arm won’t take a lot of stress testing. I had to take it out of my protective case to put it in the holder, not the worst thing, but fyi.The phone holder can be moved to the arm to video you drawing, or it can be mounted under the desk - you can’t clearly see your phone with it mounted under the desk. That said, I did just fold a kitchen towel inside, and put my phone on top of the towel and it worked pretty well. The tracing paper supplied is good, but it’s almost too thick to see through for good tracing. Honestly, old school overhead projector sheets that are completely clear might be the most fun for getting started! The markers supplied dry fast and don’t smudge though, which is nice.I almost took off a star for the usability of a phone behind the magnifier combined with the clarity of the paper, since that doesn’t really work without the towel solution and it’s still fuzzy to make out an image. The phone/device has to be right up against the magnifier. I think an ipad mini would work great behind the magnifier though. I would have loved this as a kid, so keeping it at 5 stars.
