I like this seed for my putting greens. It grows thick in a few months. It chokes out other species such as ground cover or clover. Less maintenance on that score. The seeds are tiny so the seed count is much higher in a pound than fescue or Kentucky bluegrass. Still some challenges but working out well. I get fast shipping from this vendor.

My backyard putting green needed some TLC so I ordered this bulk seed through Amazon marketplace and found a good deal, at an affordable price, I will return to that spot again if necessary

I bought 3 packages of Pencross Bentgrass seed. The product, while being a very small, fine seed performed as promised. When I thought the seed didn’t have the coverage it should have (even though it’s been a very hot & dry summer) the vendor stepped up to try to help and make it right! Great Customer Service!

Be sure to mix 1:1 with topsoil and sand. Use a generous amount of seeds, and just barely cover with soil. Keep moist and everything sprouts in just under a week and is beautiful... you can (should) let them root a couple weeks, trim to about 1/2" (with a greens mower obviously) and for a decent putting surface, firmly press them down with a light duty roller. Just make sure when first spreading the seed to be slightly generous; this grass wants to be packed in together.

Perhaps it's my locale in Orange County , CA - or my soil - the picture shows a putting green - but my 1 lb. bag produced a very wispy crop of grass in my apartment "mini yard" which is ok... it looks good but doesn't seem like the tough bermudas I see in my neighborhood - (which is what I was hoping for), some properties have that tight carpet like a serious putting green - and it's not what I have. I have 6 inch long, thin wisps of mostly very green grass. My "lawn" is only sprouted since July 20 or so (2013), so maybe it will still mature into that thick weave I'm hoping for. As it is now, my little min-pin dog can scratch easily to the soil with a couple of rear paw sweeps, so this lawn is not very "tough". It doesn't take to being stepped very well. I feel like I'm damaging it when I walk on it. If it matures and toughens up - I will come back and perhaps upgrade my review to 4 or 5 stars.

I bought this over the winter to fill in some spots in my yard. I put it down right as the last snow melted and let it naturally get absorbed into the top layer of soil (expansion and contraction of the earth due to freezing and heating during the day). I was worried at first because I've never tried this method, but it worked like a charm. It looked like mold at first because I wasn't used to such fine grass. However, 3 weeks later this stuff as taken off. Looks and feels great. I wished I bought more and probably will.
