I somehow "misplaced" my favorite pair of these, so I needed to get a backup set until I could justify the cost of buying an exact replacement for the ones I lost. I decided to give these a shot and was pretty impressed. They are strong, sturdy, and operate very smoothly. They're nearly brand new still, so time and the abuse they're bound to face will tell, but so far I have no doubts that these will serve me well! I'm in much less of a hurry to buy another pair.

Anyone who has been around a while and uses tools is familiar with the Crescent name. I believe they were the creator of the "Crescent wrench", or the "adjustable wrench". So when the opportunity came to test and review this set of adjustable pliers, I jumped on it. As expected, they're no longer made in America, so the tolerances that you'd have expected 40 years ago are no longer there. There was definitely some engineering that went into the design of these wrenches. The jaws and teeth obviously attempt to solve every potential grip issue with their intricate shape and cuts. Even the oversized handle covers have a rounded section with rubberized teeth. I'm not sure when one might use that... maybe to tighten or loosen something without marring the surface? The large wrench will squarely grip an item over 2.5 inches wide, so the range is quite impressive. My only complaints are this: Instead of using a bolt and locknut to put the halves together, they used a fixed pin. The connection is too loose, which cause a fair amount of unintended movement between the halves. Frankly, it feels like a cheap solution that will ultimately be the point of failure for these pliers. This system does make the head thinner, so there may be occasional advantages, but I don't totally trust it. My only other complaint is the thickness of the handle-covers. They're comfortable, but they won't fit into the plier holders on my pegboard wall. Not a huge deal... just an aggravation. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the method of connecting the halves. Time will tell if it's a big factor.

I have used these on weekends off and on for a few months now and I am very happy with them. They appear to be typical Crescent quality, which is to say good quality. The action is smooth, the teeth are nicely defined, the handles are well cushioned and comfortable and it is easy to slide the pliers up and down the grooves for different size objects. Note these are definitely pliers and not wrenches and the sharp teeth would damage any nut or bolt you use these on. Before you order, make sure you check the measurements because the larger pliers in this set is truly a gigantic pair of pliers, as per the photo. So far, I have not had a reason to push them to their limits, but I’m sure I will at some point. If I run into any issues, I will update this review, but so far so good and five stars.

These are the same Crescent brand your Dad used decades ago. They are very well made slip jaw pliers. They have over sized handle grips that even include a section with rubber teeth for when you don't want scratch the surface of something. I'm not sure how useful that's going to be since it's on the end of the handle just below the slip jaw section. You'd definitely have less leverage in this area. The regular jaw end of these is angled and has angled teeth to grip just about anything. The handles are comfortable to use. These aren't quite the same quality as ones I've had for decades but they still feel pretty solid. There's more play in the pivot and it's not something you can tighten.

These things are Amazing! They are like a group of holding devices all in one! Just look at the pictures and that is not including hard pipe, soft plastic pipe and anything round or with flat sides! If you do Any mechanical, HVAC, handyman or automotive stuff where you need to hold something or get it to turn when it really doesn't want to turn these guys are the ticket! Incredibility well thought out!

These are -not- high quaity tools. The fit is looser than my old craftsman crescent wrenches. There is a lot of play in hinge. The finish, well, the finish is rough. These things might not have seen a grinder to smooth their surfaces.However... they do work. I've used them to hold pipes and as nut crackers.

This set of slip joint pliers is a good value for the features they have. The handles are a nice thick grippy material. They are thick enough that they don't hurt your hands after using them for extended periods of time. The handles have a small area that can be used for gripping plastic pipe or pipe that you don't want to mark up with the teeth on the jaws. The jaws have very sharp teeth that provides a firm grip on whatever you are clamping down on. Great set of pliers to have in the toolbox.

My new favorite set of channel lock pliers. The jaw teeth are sharp and grippy. Then handles are easy to hold and give a confident strong feeling when using the pliers. Crescent is known for their quality and these pliers live up to the name.
