It arrived in a box that looked like repackaging, not original. The description mentioned velcro pads for attaching to inside of fireplace. I received foam pads but no velcro. The foam pads had a peel off on one side to reveal a sticky surface but the other side of the pad was covered with paper that could not be removed(perhaps someone had tried to use it and just put paper on it for their return?). I installed and tried the fan. It did activate but kept cycling on and off rather than running continuously. I put the sensor in several different locations but it still cycled. Also, even at medium speed setting it produced a rather noticeable humming sound. I opted to return this item.

Before you buy:1. is there a grounded outlet inside the gas fireplace enclosure? If not, you'll be running the cord through the bottom grate.2. can you remove the bottom, tilt-out grate? This was necessary for me to squeeze the blower into the restricted space under the firebox.3. is the installer flexible, with not large forearms? It's a tight fit for arms to maneuver the blower into place.Installation instructions that came with the unit are two pieces of paper, with just drawings. I have a lot of DIY experience; even so it took careful study. The original gas fireplace installation instructions are of no use.Tools needed:Just a vacuum and rags to clean out the dust, dirt from the space below the firebox. The unit comes with a blower speed adjustment knob. There is enough wiring with the unit for the knob to be mounted outside the installation enclosure. There are no instructions as to how or where to mount the thermostat.I learned that it is magnetic and attached it under the hottest part of the firebox. Where I have it mounted, right now, it takes 12 minutes for the bottom of the firebox to warm up enough for the fan to come on.The blower continues to run after the gas fireplace is turned off. When the metal at the firebox where the thermostat is attached cools off enough, the fan turns off. Nice way to move the heat out of the firebox and into the room.At max speed, the fan is easily noticed. Its not raucous.

This product was exact fit to my old heatilator fan. Just plug and play. Moved old metal housing to new fan. Plugged it in and bingo. Fan. Didn't need the kit. But oh well.

We purchased this and installed it but didn't start using it until last week. We have used it approximately 5 times and today while using it, it started making a high pitch sound. Quality isn't there for it to not even last a week. This is installed in a built-in gas fireplace so in order to change it, the mounted mantle and trim has to be taken off, which is a pain. On top of that, when you try to get product support, both options available are for ceiling fans.Would NOT recommend.

We are using the fan in our Vermont propane stove (heater) replacing an OEM fan. I had to re-clock the motor 180 degrees to get it to fit. So far It has worked well and has been decently quiet. It would be great if there was better dimensional data on the Amazon site. Also, there were no instructions or fasteners included. Its not rocket science to mount these, but at least recommended fastener list would have been nice. Note: this item is not UL listed which I would have preferred to know beforehand.

I shopped around for the best one. This one is easy to install. Need to understand that the space under the fireplace is tight. But after I cleaned out the dust, did a dry-run on the installation. I peeled off the tape and stuck it on. Pressed and held for a few seconds to allow proper adherence. The noise level is loud if you crank it up, which is expected since it’s like a cave underneath. We found a speed level that pushes out great heat and it’s the same decibels as our central HVAC heat when it’s on.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: that it’s all connected outside the fireplace to make sure all the connections are correct and there are no issues with the fan
