This full-grained heavy duty leather sheath is hand crafted in Oregon, USA. The leather is vegetable tanned and will not corrode metal. It has a hand oiled finish for durability and the seams are lock stitched with heavy weight nylon thread. The sheath protects the axe head and fits snugly and securely with two snaps. The belt loop fits belts with widths up to 1 ¾ inches. This sheath only fits the CRKT Freyr.

As most other reviews have said, it's really tight and difficult to get on at first because it's stiff and new. I'm assuming it'll break in nicely. Well made and should be included with the Freyr.

The leather was very dry and inflexible when received and wouldn’t easily cover or close around the axe head or handle. I oiled it liberally over several days using Obenauf’s leather oil, allowing time to soak in and formed it around the axe head and handle. Eventually it closed easily over the axe head but with difficulty around the handle. These were for Freyr bearded axes I purchased for my nephews. I like the product after the work done to refresh the leather. The handle/ belt loop attachment can be removed by drilling out the rivets which is what we will probably do, protecting the axe head and providing for safe handling and storage was really the intent.

The sheath for Freyr fits as I would hope but the belt part is riveted on and wouldn't last. Needs to stitched and riveted together. Needs to be oiled as well, very dry.

It fits real good I had to stretch the buckle so I can put paracord wrap on it. Only thing they need to make bigger.

This is a very precise fit, such that if you don't place it on the axe head at just the right angle it can't be snapped and you'd swear at first it doesn't fit. Good leather, tough stitching. It's a good product, obviously to protect both the edge of the axe as well as humans. If you have the Freyr axe I highly recommend this sheath.

I like the sheath don't get me wrong. It's a great deal for a leather sheath. But there's a problem with the fitting. I think the leather on this one was stitched a little too tight and the button was placed too far away from where the overlap part of the leather button snap meets the other. I really had to wrench the leather over in order for it to snap close. I'm thinking if I can use some oil or leather softener to stretch it out it'll be ok. I'm wondering is this just a miss-measure issue where this particular one was made too tight or all of them are. I love the axe so I'll be buying another for a gift and another sheath just to see

Well made leather and fits the axe I bought perfectly! Claps are strong and don’t come undone and it has a slot for your belt should you choose to wear it that way.
