I recommend warming up the d shaped end in a pot of boiling water before you try to install it. I also recommend only submerging half of it in the water and hold it with tongs on the large end(don't let the rubber touch the pan). Check the pliability frequently so you don't over heat it. You will want to install it over the steering shaft "pins" when it is still very warm. Move quickly, but gently. If the rubber cools down too much, re warm it in the boiling water.

Gets the job done, but like most other Crown and Omix-ada knock-offs, is inferior quality and dissolves after about a year. This is my second one.
