All soft pastels seem expensive to me, except for the really cheap ones. I’ve attached a photograph to show that these soft pastels are the same size as the tip of my index finger, although fatter. They came in a nice little wooden box with 36 colors. I intend to use these for laying down a first layer on sanded pastel paper, and I think they will work well for that purpose. I put them in the order that I prefer, so when you open the box it will not look exactly like what I have shown. I do not think I would purchase a larger box, but I am pleased with what I have.

I bought it to see what these are like before I bought the 242 set. For anyone else that might be interested in knowing the softness, I would say these might be as hard (or slightly harder) as Rembrandts.
