After doing some research on several DAC's I settled on this FX-Audio X6 MKII unit. The main selling point to me was the ESS (Saber chip) inside, I was familiar with the sound quality of the chip. Once I connected it into my 2 channel system consisting of:Logitech Squeezebox TouchTechnics 10 band EQIntegra 2.1 ampPanamax M5200 EXI put the X6 right after the Touch then into the EQ, The system is in a large room with a vaulted ceiling ranging from 10 feet to about 25'. The EQ helps with controlling the sound in such a open space and adding the needed punch in the mid range. The X6 was very notable in the area of Clearer voices and other ambient factors in the music. The Speakers I am using are the Fluance Signature Towers, and those speakers can take over a room, in both size and sound. The dynamic range of the X6 with this combination of components is very good, going from big loud passages to soft whispers with the same clarity. The Old Burr Brown Dac in the Touch seem much softer and muddy at times, but that could be just the Touch showing its age.The Crown XLi 1500 amp is the crown jewel of my 2 ch setup in my living room. It replaced an aging Integra 2.1 that was showing its' age. My setup consist of:Logictech Squeezebox TouchFX-Audio X6 MkII DACTeac 10 band EQSpeakers;Fluance Signature TowersThe power of the crown gives my setup the reserve punch it needs, even playing at low volume and allows the ESS (Saber chip) in the FX Audio DAC to deliver smooth voices at both high and low volume the mid range is very present in all formats of music. After some issues on my part getting this setup, once I did, it is amazing. The awesome power of this amp allows me to run it at @ 40% with no noice or distortion and more low end than a less powerful amp. This is partnered with my Technics 1200 turntable, Klipsch floor speakers and digital streaming through a laptop and Schiit multi bit DAC. Couldn't be happier.
