I orders a stiching awk and only got a handle, no awl blade.

The description indicates a fixed blade of 1.25". I'm assuming that means exposed length. The item I received only has .75" exposed making it difficult to use and clear the top of the stitching clamp.

I purchase several things on Amazon and was giving pretty in-depth reviews. From this point on, here's the new agenda…. if it works as advertised, is well made, meets or exceeds the description, is a value, and arrives in a fair amount of time, it will get a "star rating" equal to what my expectations were/are. If it doesn't meet these criteria, then I will most definitely and descriptively tell the short comings of the products and you as a consumer will not have to go through the trouble of buying the product without some background knowledge. If the sell pulls that item and relists under another description, I will put the exact same review on the seller's feedback page. Sellers have done this a couple of times in the past, and I was true to my word then as well as now. DR

This tool is simple and well crafted. It will give you a lifetime of good service, no doubt. I’ve made/enlarged thousands of holes and there’s no indication I need to sharpen yet. Lesser blades will need frequent sharpening, shortening the life of the tool. This one seems well tempered, thus longer lived.

GREAT quality with a sturdy handle and blade. I made the mistake of trying to save a few dollars and bought a cheaper awl only to realize this one is worth the extra investment. Best awl for the price and a bargain for the beginner leathersmith or crafter.

This stitching awl is exactly what I needed to hand stitch various leathercraft projects. It's perfectly sized, perfectly sharp and perfectly durable. It's what I expected from the most popular awl in the market. If you plan on hand stitching items like knife sheaths, gun holsters, wallets and other small goods - look no further and get to stitching.
