This is a nice brass hammer.It feels comfortable to hold and seems well-made.I like brass hammers as it doesn't mar up metal surfaces like steel hammers do.The grip feels good and absorbs the shock well.Excellent little hammer.

I work in an environment where sparks can be a serious hazard – sometimes around flammable materials or sensitive electronics. A standard steel hammer is a definite no-go. This C&T 16oz solid brass hammer is specifically designed to be non-sparking, which is exactly what I needed for those situations.The head is made entirely of solid brass. When brass strikes another material (like metal), it's much less likely to generate a spark compared to steel. This makes it essential safety equipment in places like petrochemical facilities, grain elevators, some manufacturing plants, or even certain electronics workshops where you need to tap or adjust things but absolutely cannot risk creating a spark.Beyond being non-sparking, brass is also non-magnetic and corrosion-resistant, which can be useful in specific applications. The 16oz (1 pound) weight is a good size for general tapping, adjusting, or light striking tasks. It has a comfortable PVC handle. While it won't have the same hitting power as a steel hammer of similar weight, its primary purpose is safety and preventing sparks. If you work in potentially hazardous environments or need to work on delicate surfaces without marring them (brass is softer than steel) and where sparks are a concern, this non-sparking brass hammer is an indispensable safety tool. I ordered this because I needed a small mallet, and this definitely fits the bill. This has a pleasant heft in the hand, a decently rubbery grip, and I find myself weirdly appreciative of the look of the brass head. It's not often that one thinks about how pretty their tools are, but a solid brass hammer has a strange appeal to it. The non-sparking nature is a bonus as well; non-sparking tools can get pretty spendy, and this one is reasonably priced.My only worry is that the head of this mallet is apparently bonded to the handle using epoxy. Supposedly it's "permanent", but is any glue truly permanent under repeated hammering, as this is designed for? I don't know. So, I hope it really is permanent. As long as it holds together, though, I have nothing bad to say about it.

The brass hammer seems to be good quality. The handle remind me of an old hammer my dad had around the house when I was a kid. Really hard plastic grip. Would be better with a softer rubber grip.

I use this for my chisels and gouges when I'm carving. It's the right size for detailed work, not too big, and not too soft-hitting.sidenote: Also a good choice for the zombie apocalypse because the head won't rust since it's solid brass.

This compact solid brass head hammer is great for delicate work or items you want to protect from damage. The quality is good, the head seems to be a solid piece of brass, well machined and well finished. It has a nice weight to it. The handle has a good grip to it.Overall a nice quality well rounded product.

I looked up why a BRASS HAMMER is preferred - A brass hammer is used in situations where non-sparking, surface protection, and controlled force are needed, especially in industries like auto repair, chemical plants, and electronics where sparks can be hazardous or unwanted. Brass hammers are softer than steel, so they prevent damage to the work surface and are also less likely to create sparks on impact.This hammer works great and feels good in the hand. It is NOT very heavy, but strikes cleanly.We use it around the shop and have had no issues.Recommended.
