I had a battery operated cuckoo clock that stop working. I bought this mechanical one because I didn't like the echo I got from the other one. Love just about everything about the clock. It does seem to gain a little time but I was able to get it down to where it doesn't gain a lot. Just a couple of minutes over a week or so. For a 1 day clock, I do have to pull the chain down before going to bed and when I get up in the morning or it will stop as the weights are all the way down. It does not last 24 hours between.

Very nice looking, well-made clock. My grandkids love the cuckoo that sings on the hour, cuckoos once on the half hour. The two birds on the bottom of the clock, feed their baby bird in the nest when the cuckoo sings. I missed that it has to be wound every day by pulling the chains down; but no big deal. It’s part of its charm! I love it!

I'll start off by saying that I have always wanted one of these. I bought one for my mother last year from another maker. The local shop carried both brands for years, but recently quit carrying the höne brand because of the price tag. After comparing the two, I wish that I had looked closer when buying my mothers. The finish of this clock is smooth, not rough like hers. Höne did not skimp on anything. The hardware is better quality, the wood is polished, the hand painting is not a decal and the carving us much more intricate.FYI ! Read your instructions thoroughly before hanging or assembling this clock.
