Do you see the big holes in the disk? they are designed to allow your fingers to be inserted there to easily lift the blade out of the bowl. That part works great. BUT, it won't shred the food properly. Big chunks go through there and it is impossible to shred anything completely. It takes longer with all the extra picking out of the large chunks and reshredding. Even then, i never get it all done and resort to just chopping by hand.
