The anti-rattle kit is comprised of a threaded pin and shim. The shim inserts into the towing accessory shank and can then be installed into the receiver. Then, the threaded hitch pin inserts into the side of the receiver and gets tightened down with a wrench. Together, the hitch pin and anti-rattle shim lock the shank in place and promote a quiet and more enjoyable towing experience. This anti-rattle trailer hitch pin and shim device fit a standard 1-1/4-inch x 1-1/4-inch receiver with a 1/2-inch pin hole. The kit is compatible with hollow-shank accessories only.

This is the 2nd unit That I have purchased. The first one did what it was supposed to. That's why I bought a 2nd one. Just a little bit of effort to get it aligned and screwin the pin. Done. No more wobble

It did not easily fit into my old Allen bike rack (I have an old Allen rack that about 10 years old.) However, I was able to force the adapter down the throat of the hitch with a punch and a hammer. After it was in place, I tightened it up fully on my hitch and it's working beautifully! It's the exact solution I've been looking for.

It’s a bolt. The world’s most overpriced bolt.$10 would be more than fair.

I didn't realize that all of my 1 1/4 " hitch accessories were solid tube , so this cannot go inside to be used. I do plan on getting a hollow tube mount for my bike rack which would be my primary usage for this anti-rattle kit. Finish looks good.I see 4 potential problems with this anti-rattle kit:1> May move during installation - a tapered end on the excess length could help to recapture if it has moved mostly away from the hole.2> Cotter pin hole is to far out, the bolt could potentially spin completely loose from the nut - should be about 1/4 - 1/2" past the threads instead 1/4 inch from the end. Easy to fix with a drill press, center punch, & M42 5/32" Cobalt drill bit.3> Nut is only spot welded in 2 spots leaving the potential for it to break loose (as some reviews have noted) if over torqued or with repeated install / removal.4> No stamping on the bolt head to indicate what grade it is & thereby know how much torque is to much - I tend to over tighten everything anyway, so it may be pretty easy to strip the threads if it's a low quality grade (below grade 2)

Held the bike rack to the car's hitch much more securely than the original nut and bolt that came with the bike rack.

Bought a Curt hitch to carry a bike rack. After everything was installed and looking great we headed down the road with our bikes on the carrier only to see them yaw back and forth so severely that we thought they were going to break off the mount somewhere. Seriously, there was a LOT of play in our hitch assy and the pendulum nature of the rack took every advantage to toss those bikes around. Simple solution! We replaced our CLASS-II solid mount with a hollow shank Curt Class-I (45018 - still fits in the Class-II hitch assy) and then installed this anti-rattle kit. Wow! What a difference. Once I tightened the bolt the hitch and shank were one solid piece of equipment. Zero play, zero yaw, zero issues. Worked like a charm. Yeah, if anyone has a problem with a loose hitch, get one of these. Would recommend to others.

I have the Allen two-bike rack and a Curt hitch. There was some sway and wobble. This kit solved the problem. The one I received matches the photo, so perhaps some of the negative reviews were referring to an earlier product. This kit is a little clumsy to install, as it slides a bit inside of the shaft. I get down low on a mechanics creeper and guide the kit into place with the cotter pin and then thread the bolt through. Slightly clumsy, but it's just a two minute job. Keep the threads of the bolt lubricated. The bolt provides a bit of security over simply using a hitch pin, and the kit solves the wobble problem very effectively.

The photo is wrong. This product has a U shaped piece of metal with a nut welded to it which fits inside the square tube of the bike rack or whatever. Then the bolt goes in and pinches the insert against the inner wall, to lock the two parts together and prevent rattling. I like that it is metal not plastic, as it should be more durable. But it doesn't stay put so it is very difficult to place inside the tube at the exact right position for the bold to grab it. Not impossible, and once on it is nice and snug. Odd too that they send a pair when I only needed and ordered one. but I do have spares on hand if I lose a part.
