The clamps that come with this kit are cheap. The smaller one broke when clamping it down and yes I was using the proper set of clamp pliers. Luckily I had an extra set of clamps on hand.

The boots are great, but the clamps that come with the boots are about useless, and wouldn't tighten up well. Luckily I ordered a different style of clamps at the same time. And yes, I have the proper clamp devices.
