This is a great set for practicing letter sounds and cvc words. Gameplay is simple- spin, grab that many tiles, if you can read the word you keep it and build a pizza, if not (or if you pull a bomb tile) discard. Play until all tiles have been used and then most pizzas is the winner. The tiles are standard game cardboard- not particularly sturdy but not flimsy by any means. The word selection is good, with all short vowels getting represented and ending consonants like x and beginning consonants like z actually being included. The instructions are printed directly on the back of the box. I chucked my box and just put the tiles in a bag because it was a bit fiddly to get them all in there and drawing tiles from the box requires they all be piled on top of each other facing the right way. But- if you wanted to lay them out you could, even make that part of the game (take out the bombs) where certain players have to pick certain tiles to build themed pizzas (like words with an ‘o’, or ends with ‘-et’ or starts with ‘p-‘. The box was very narrow which was good for space, but the sides of the box didn’t have the title on it- which is how games get forgotten about and lost in my storage area. This is a great versatile set- use it for homeschool, group speech games, building vocabulary, and practicing phonics. It works well, is fun, and I was even able to scale it to very young students- instead of reading the word they just had to recognize a letter or two per tile. It’s worth having if you don’t already have something similar. Now I want this exact same game but for cvvc words, magic e, and other 3-5 letter words.

My daughter really enjoys this game—it’s fun and has a cool concept! The only downside is the font choice. She had trouble recognizing a few letters that she usually identifies without any issues. Other than that, it's a great learning tool and definitely helpful for early education.

This game is super easy to set up and fun to use! There are a good mix of blends and digraphs included in the words, which makes for great practice. I've been using them in my tutoring with students who know their blends/digraphs, but need additional practice reading them quickly and accurately. It's a great way to keep things fun while also getting in the needed practice.

When trying to help kids learn anything, games are the way to go. This creative cvc focused game is a fantastic addition to any young child teaching repertoire. The rules were incredibly clear and printed right on the box. The pieces are a great size for smaller hands and sturdily constructed. The words range from simple to a bit more complex (looking at you /x/) so it can present a challenge at any stage of learning. Whether strengthening sound concepts or using these as sight words to practice reading fundamentals, this game will keep your kiddo's attention and help without them realizing.
