Very bright and powerful light. This is my fourth Cygolite, as always very high quality. This on specific is a bit heavier since it is larger than the smaller version.

I'm very satisfied with this light. Lasts a couple hours on brightest setting and the flash function is a good one. I wish the handlebar mount was a little more substantial, but it's held up fine for over a year now, so...

I've updated my review because Cygolite mailed an acceptable mounting solution to me. The original review appears below if you're interested. I've deducted one star because you shouldn't have to telephone the company and then wait for over a week to get the rubber shims for a 22 mm OD handlebar. The shims can't possibly cost Cygolite more than 25 cents, so they should just be included in every box.Now that I can properly mount it, the Cygolite Ranger 1800 may well be the best headlamp overall for me. I ride on roads, not trails. About 99% of my riding is in daylight, but I may also need to start the occasional ride before dawn or get caught out after sunset. The Ranger Endurance is the ultimate daylight flasher with run times that easily accommodate an all-day century with many hours to spare. Night time performance is solid although limited to only one hour if you set it to be bright enough for off-road riding. Road riders like me can turn down the brightness to get up to three hours of useful run time at night. The beam pattern at night is absolutely perfect for road riding, with wide horizontal coverage and no central hot spot. The Ranger maintains a constant light output throughout its run time, unlike some competitors that gradually decrease brightness to provide a phony increase in run time. It’s also the only headlamp I’ve seen with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. That said, some of the design feels dated. The plastic body seems fragile compared to the metal bodies of some similarly priced competitors. The charging port is still micro-USB instead of USB-C. A full charge takes well over six hours, which seems slow to me. Unlike Magicshine headlamps, you can't plug an external USB power bank into the charging port to extend run time. The charging port does not appear to be active during use. Also unlike Magicshine, you can't output 5V power from the Ranger into another device.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Be aware, the Ranger 1800 Endurance may NOT come with a handlebar mount for your bike. So, it’s hard for me to give a star rating to this product. The head unit itself is four or five stars. But the mount is only one star for my bike. The problem is that Cygolite makes two rigid mounts for this product but only one of them is included in the box. The included mount is the large version that can attach to bars measuring 26 to 35mm of outside diameter. Generally, this will be a drop down style handlebar. You can see the large mount here on Amazon at https://a.co/d/bpxm3toHowever, most bikes sold today are mountain bikes or touring hybrid bikes. These bikes are most often equipped with “flat” style handlebars measuring 22mm OD. Cygolite does make a rigid mount to fit, but it’s not included with the Ranger Endurance. If this sounds like you, the mount that would fit your bike costs $15 extra and can be seen on Amazon at https://a.co/d/byNYJ0wYou cannot use the included mount as is on a 22mm bar. It encircles the bar but can’t tighten down on it. The light hangs upside down. You can spin the light around the bar with just the tip of your little finger. The headlight itself is a nice enough product. I’ve summoned up my inner McGuyver to improvise a mount so I can try it out. I wrapped two layers of black electrical tape on the bar to break the slipperiness of the finish, then a layer of rubber scavenged from an old bike tube over that, with two more layers of electrical tape over the rubber. The mount then fits but it’s a crude solution. To be fair to Cygolite, you can call their customer service and you will get a real American. They will be pleasant and offer to send you some pre-made rubber shims so you can accomplish what I did, but in a neater fashion. Rubber strips of that sort can’t possibly wholesale for more than 25 cents, so I don’t understand why they aren’t just included in the package. It’s not like 22mm flat bars are rare. Shipping time will be quoted at 7-10 days.

Very impressive light. Clearly well built, and VERY bright. The only minor criticism is that the 2 buttons are just a bit confusing, but once you figure it out, it's no big deal. Overall, highly recommended!
