This solved our problem with our Samsung refrigerator. Fairly easy to install if you watch the online videos. The part that sticks down into the tube is too short in the original design so it can't keep the tube from freezing and plugging up.

The OEM part is a joke. I had no idea how chintzy and miniscule it was. That is,until I had to fix the water leaking and freezing into the refrigerator back wall and under the bottom drawer (which would freeze to the ice, making it un-openable).When I opened the coil cover, on the back wall of the box, the OEM part was severely bent and curled away from the drain, making it totally useless. The image show the OEM part, after I tried to reform it into shape. When I realized how ridiculous the design was, I decided to upgrade to this part. It is larger, longer and has more surface area, making it (fingers crossed) actually effective.Hopefully this "Drain Tube Clip Evaporator" (on steroids) will perform as expected (better than the original).Hopefully I won't have to buy it again.

I had a repairman come and thaw my drain tube and remove almost 3/4” of ice from the bottom of my refrigerator. Within a few weeks it froze up again and he came back out. Then it happened again. I was just about ready to junk the refrigerator when I came across a YouTube video discussing the issue and recommended this part. Simple to install and it seems to have solved the icing issue.

Simple product solution to freezing drain lines in Samsung refrigerator. Installation of the part takes a few seconds. Removal of items on shelving and shelvng of refrigerator to gain access to drain line and putting those items back in refrigerator takes 30 minutes or so... and requires patience to prevent damage to plastic panels and gasket in back of refrigerator. Unfreezing of drain channel and drain line is also required. Installation of the metal part is very easy... the time consumption is gaining access to fix the factory design defect.

This gem saved me from buying a new refrigerator. My Samsung fridge kept leaking water into the deli tray, then eventually frosting the freezer; makes great snowcones. I saw this piece from a YouTube video on how to fix this problem and figured- why not? Ordered it but didn't replace it before the entire thing died. Replaced this piece and it is been working great for about 2 months now.It works as designed and is obviously less expensive than buying a new refrigerator. Great deal!

This extra long metal refrigerator/ freezer drain defroster is perfect I have a Samsung refrigerator that the drain was iced and clogged. It had a factory small metal band wrapped around the electric defrost heater that was riveted on but it only hung down to the very top of the drain hole. So down inside the drain would freez from the very cold frost that falls down into the drain and when the unit went on defrost it would never unfreeze the drain an inch or so down.I removed the original metal factory unit by cutting it off with a pair of diagonal cutters. Install the new metal unit which is about 2 inches longer. I wrapped it around the defrost heater and used needle nose players to squeeze the tabs around the heater. And the long end went down into the drain hole. Fully corrected the problemThe factory should have used this.Note to unfreeze the drain I use a turkey Baster boiled some water and kept forcing hot water down the drain. Put towels in the bottom of the fridge to catch the water that will overflow. I kept doing this with about 2-3 cups of hot boiling water. With in a few min it unfroze and passed the water through. I continued to put about a cup of hot water down the drain to clear out all ice and or dibre .This is an easy fix,. The hard part is removing all the shelves and removing the back panel off the evaporator coil. There’s many you tube tutorials to help explain how to do this. 6 dollar part saved hundreds in a service company to come out. Plus many companies don’t work on Samsung refrigerator. Hhhm I wonder why!Good luck

The inside of our Samsung fridge has been leaking icy water into the space under the deli tray for at least 2 years. We kept tongs and a face cloth next to the fridge (how attractive), used several times a day to mop up the water, or it would freeze and prevent the deli tray from opening. Recently, I went to pop out a shelf and it seemed to be stuck. Upon closer inspection, I saw ICE had formed in all of the shelf-holding slots. Very quickly, it got worse. Now there was ice protruding from all around the edges of the cover panel at the back, inside wall of the fridge. Then this plastic cover panel began to bulge out with more and more ice building up behind it. The last straw was when it became so cold from all of this ice that it started freezing my produce. -And as a side note, this was not the only problem. When we pulled out the fridge, there was a dripping ice formation on the back, right under the connection box for the water filter/ice maker. We never connected the fridge to a water line, so there was no reason whatsoever for any water to exit that area, except that it was coming through from the mess under the deli tray inside the fridge. We came to find that this dripping water had begun to rot the plywood under the flooring.- Anyway, I started looking at new fridges. My husband started looking on YouTube. Everyone was using this little gadget. A few bucks compared to about $3000 for a new fridge. We decided to try it. The process was not easy. Even with an oscillating heat fan running inside, it took a day to thaw enough ice to pry the panel off. And it was still ice packed in behind. That was the VERY hard part. My husband removed the old drain clip and I put on this new one - in about a minute. At first, we had a small amount of water reappear in the deli tray and drip from the back. Must have been residual, as it stopped after two days. It has been a couple of months now, and we have no leaking water - inside or out - and zero ice inside the fridge. We couldn’t be happier! This little gadget bought me the time I need so that I can wait for my kitchen remodel to buy a new fridge - which will NOT be a Samsung.
