We enjoy using this paper trimmer, you can feel the quality and sharpness of the blade. We also used it to cut very thin rice paper and was pleasantly surprised that it didnt crinkle at all - love it!

I was really surprised.Great workmanship, great accuracy, absolutely no effort required, super smooth.I wish they had something like that for cutting foamboard of 3/16" and 1/2"

We bought this for our marketing department that's always cutting cards, menus, little strips of odd things for events. We previously had a Fiskars and struggled with thinking we had the cut line right, only to cut it and discover we had it crooked. I was starting to think it was just built crooked?!? We also needed to replace the cutting bar under the blade frequently to avoid rough edges. Before the Fiskars, we had a "guillotine" style cutter that could not do great detail work. It was really only useful for bulk chopping with little precision. This Dahle is extremely accurate and it cuts like a breeze. With the backstop in place I can do repetitive cuts and they come out perfect every time. I've been enjoying experimenting with how tiny a sliver of paper I can shave off. This beats our old cutters by a mile - or should I say "a millimeter"? If you are doing detail work this is the most satisfyingly precise paper cutter I've used.Another benefit is that there are no cutting mats to be replaced. We haven't had it long enough to see how the self-sharpening blade lasts, but so far it takes the lightest touch to get through a sheet of 28lb paper and just a bit more for a stack of 4 sheets or card stock. If you're looking for a bulk chopping paper cutter, you're not going to get that here. However, if you need precision straight cuts, this is the best.

la uso per lavoro essendo un fotografo, quindi lavora parecchio, va bene, scorrevole e facile da usare, i materiali sono buoni ma non eccellenti, sembra valido e drittissimo, solo che è un po delicato...

The Dahle 552 Professional Rolling Trimmer works great for me. It is my personal opinion that it is best to cut one thickness at a time, unless there is a real need to cut more, and the resultant thickness is within recommended guidelines. More important to me is that it is still fairly easy to cut everything. If one treats a quality piece of equipment like this trimmer with sensitivity and respect, it should last a long time. The Cut Length is listed as 20", but I find that it is closer to 20-3/8". I have seen the 552 listed at other sites, like Blick Art Materials, having a Cut Length of 20-1/8".

I have had mine for about One Year. I use it once or twice a week.I have not had any problems with the graphics wearing off like some have complained about. This IS NOT a Heavy Duty paper cutter made for professional, heavy use. Those cost MORE than 150 bux. What it IS is a very nice cutter for use by a Hobbyist or home owner, or for doing Small/Light jobs in a professional setting.Mine is in my darkroom and it is mounted vertical on the wall. It seems to work fine in that orientation. I do not have a lot of counter space so i did not want to "waste" it with this cutter.Mine has worked perfectly from day one. The most i have ever cut is Two Pieces of photo paper at one time. I suppose that would be about the thickness of 6-7-8 pieces of regular white copy paper. It seems to be a well made product to me.It is now October of 2019 and this Dahle is still working great.I doubt you can buy a "Better" cutter for the money

This is one of those products which you can't say enough about. I've been amazed at how easy it is with this Dahle cutter/trimmer to get perfect cuts exactly where I needed them. I do a lot of photo cutting and it's so easy to see exactly where the cut will be made. Once the cutter hits the paper, you can feel how it goes through the paper with ease. I haven't had any lines pressed into photos as another review mentioned, and it seems that the clear plastic which the paper goes under, presses down on the paper just enough to hold it in place while the blade goes by. Once the blade is at one end or the other of the unit, the plastic doesn't press down on the paper at all.As one of my projects are making CD booklets, the most I've cut through is 3 sheets of 50lb or 9mil paper. Perfect edges of the CD booklets. Print, line up, fold, staple, and then with Dahle Trimmer, the final touches. I was using an older guillotine type cutter for quite some time, usually just missing the edge of a photo, or where I wanted to cut, and then very carefully trim the little bit off with a pair of scissors. Not the best way to get exact edges, but now with this trimmer, those days are gone. I still use the guillotine type for certain cuts, but when I need precision cuts, the Dahle Trimmer has the job now. Some of the trims I've done were so thin, about a 64th of an inch, maybe less, but as it trimmed off the little bit I needed off, the trimmed paper just coiled up like a slinky. Something I've tried in the past with the guillotine type cutters and all they do is fold the paper over the cutting edge, which is why I tried to get as close as possible with the scissors when that experiment failed. So glad I have this cutter/trimmer now!If you do any crafts and are looking at this or this type of cutter vs guillotine cutters, I don't think you'll be disappointed going with one of these.

I read a lot of reviews of various trimmers, kept coming back to this one, glad I did. Very smooth, accurate, ideal for photo trimming, although I did try it on Canson and other art papers, results are great. One thing I did at the outset was to remove the hold down and using a fine file smooth the bottom edges and corners, slightly rounding them, and I don't see any marks or imprints on photo paper, which was one of the complaints I noticed in an earlier review. Overall an excellent tool that should last for quite a while.

With so many people searching for the perfect trimmer for office, art and crafting, I am surprised that a company has yet to produce one.Dahle has come very close to perfection with the 552. It cuts perfectly and effortlessly each time, even thicker materials. The trimmer, overall, is well-built, made to use, constructed to endure daily use. While it is very lightweight, it has enough mass to it to stay on the table during operation... I was expecting more heft. The grid and primary markings on this cutter are metric. They put an imperial rule on each end of the cutter. I'm all for an international system of measurement, but until that happens, if a company is going to sell an item to the US market, then put US measurements on it! And that is the bitter aftertaste for this product... if I am cutting short pieces of paper that don't reach the second rule, there's no way to tell if it's truly square... if I can find a large format cutter with an imperial grid, then this is going back, if not, it's still worth the price because of the cut quality.Dahle, make a US version of this cutter and you'll have a winner.Pros:* Unbeatable cutting operation* metal base* reasonably lightweight but sturdyCons:* It's all metric except for an imperial rule on each end... this would be great if I lived somewhere else.A US version at the same cost could put Rototrim at the bottom of the list... wise up Dahle -- it doesn't cost more to print a US grid on the metal plate... it is a shame a near perfect cutter has to lose a star over something so easy to fix.
