-- EASY TO LATCH AFTER 1 DAY OF INSTALL: Very Very difficult to latch the first time. I had to put my legs and both hands on the latch to push it in place and I was afraid I was going to bend the hood or fender or break something. Now I'm afraid to unlatch it fearing it will be as difficult to latch again. But after only a day installed they were much more reasonable to release and re-latch.-- OEM STRAPS ARE EASY TO REMOVE: The OEM strap was surprisingly easy to remove. I held one end in a vice and used vice grips as per the instructions and the end of the plastic rods easily snapped off.-- METAL RODS: The provided rods to hold the Daystar straps are metal and have pre-applied Locktite. I think they need to be metal to withstand the incredible force needed to latch them.-- GOOD VALUE: At $20 these are a good value compared to $100 for an adjustable latch-- After only a day of installation, the straps relaxed significantly making the much more reasonable to engage and unlock.-- During a very windy day pushing the Jeep around and 95F and driving 70 mph the hood was solid, no movement, excellent!

These are the best 10-minute fix ever. I have a 2008 JK that had really bad hood flutter. Probably accentuated by the bug deflector I have on it, and it was really bad. I must admit, I was a bit nervous to hack off the existing hold down straps - but I prepared well and this was a 10-minute install.Tools needed - 2 phillips head screwdrivers, sharp box cutter, small (12-14") bolt cutter, pot of low boiling water.First - start soaking new straps in a pot of really hot (low boiling) water.Second - use box cutters to cut existing straps off existing strap holders.Third - use small bolt cutters to cut off existing bolts. You do not need to remove bottom strap holder from the hood with this method. Bring the top strap holder with you to where you have the straps in the water (this happened to be inside my house for me).Fourth - remove one new strap from the hot water, put into existing top strap holder, slide bolt through, use some of the provided loctite and tighten. Drop back in the water for a minute.Fifth - remove strap and top holder from water and go out to your Jeep. Put the bottom of the new strap into the hood holder, slide bolt through, use some of the provided loctite and tighten. Clamp the strap down.Sixth - repeat the above for the other strap.Seventh - make sure all bolts are tight and take for a test drive. You won't believe the difference!I did this in 55 degree weather with no problems and it took 10 minutes maximum. These are the greatest thing!I definitely recommend this product.

I bought a used 2010 JK a few weeks ago and had an hour and a half drive to get it home. As soon as I got it up to speed on the highway - GOOD GOD - the hood began to shutter as if a demon was trying to claw it's way out from under it. After watching the hood flutter the entire way home, I ordered a bottle of holy water from Amazon ($10.73 with free shipping) and doused that 3.8L V6 while my children chanted some medieval prayers we found on Google. This unfortunately did not work, as the next day on the highway the hood again shook and rattled in the most unholy nature. Well, after some research I found a guy that would perform a professional exorcism over Skype and shot him an email requesting his services immediately, but before dropping $300 on it a friend suggested trying Daystar Hood Wranglers first. Reluctantly, I ordered the replacement rubbers and when they arrived I sprinkled some of the leftover holy water on them just to be safe. After a fifteen minute install while blasting Gregorian chant in the garage - BAM. That hood DOES NOT BUDGE. Problem solved. Demon gone.

These are extremely stiff. The reason they want you to install at 70°+ is so when you work them onto the hood and slowly stretch them to get them to latch, the warmth will help them stretch without cracking. So I didn't unbolt anything, me and a friend used a "camel-toe" screwdriver sized pry bar to break the cap of each fastener off. Just remember to throw on some painters tape where you're working or use a rag so you don't scratch the paint.I had them soaking in scalding hot water for about 20 minutes, and once I put everything together I slowly started stretching and releasing the hood latch. I would hook the catch and then rock it up and release slowly about 30 times each, hold it for a few seconds then let it shrink back. Then eventually just throwing it to full latch. I didn't completely latch and unlatch it, I just stretched it nicely first. Once I got it latched I left it, I'll check on it tomorrow night at work. The hood seems extremely well held down now. I gave it a 4 star because I don't know what to expect yet, they seem so tight that they might actually break the hood latches.Update: Years later and these babies are still holding up. Great product.

I wish I had bought this sooner! These things were an EXCELLENT buy! Easy to install, and absolutely worked 100% to remove all hood flutter on my 2013 JKU. I would absolutely recommend this to everyone! I preferred the factory look and these did a perfect job. Just remember to Install these on a hot day to make your life easier!

These look great,The initial install has to be done at 70 degrees or warmer so It will be a while before I can actually mount the latch. They are about 1.5 times thicker than the factory latches on my 2009 jk so they should do the job well.Otherwise they look good and fit tight but it is an easy change over.they would be 5 stars if I could mount them and get a little use out of them before spring.

They work great and still retain the factory style and look. No hood flutter at all when meeting semis and big trucks on the highway! Install was simple.

Work perfect. No hood movement at all. They are VERY tight... Probably could be a bit longer (so that the hood would be a bit easier to close), but they are great.Update: After a few months it has become easier to latch the hood closed. They are still tight enough though that there is no hood flutter at all.
