About this item

  • Heavy duty steel construction
  • Fully welded and interlocked
  • Special polyurethane blend isolates trans
  • Reduces power loss of a traditional mount

Motor and transmission mounts take a tremendous pounding every day, and when power-and torque-enhancing modifications are added to the mix, most factory mounts just can't handle the stress. Daystar's Motor and Transmission Mounts offer several advantages over factory mounts. They feature a fully welded and interlocking design, meaning that even if the mount fails (a highly unlikely situation) the mounts have a mechanical backup to keep the drivetrain components from breaking loose. They are resistant to vehicle fluids and road grime, and provide firmer holding power than traditional rubber. Perfect for harsh environments such as off-roading, daystar's Motor and Transmission mounts will provide years of trouble-free service and are backed by a lifetime warranty.

I had the rubber Mount like others. My Jeep is HEAVILY modified for off road. I have the Rusty’s CJ crossmember with my 3 link mounted to it. This fit, with some wiggling, good enough to make me run it into the Rubicon. You’ll be wanting some fender washers since the nuts they provided are not flanged like the stock ones. I noticed NO additional vibrations.I also run polyurethane Brown Dog motor mounts. Whatever you run on the trans you should run on the motor. Otherwise one flexes while the other doesn’t.

Some modifications needed 1.) Bolt holes need to be widened to bolt to transmission. 2.) Lock washers need to be replaced with regular washers to mount to rough country long arm crossmember, or mount will pull thru. This mount is very similar to factory, height/width. Installed in 98 jeep xj 4.0l auto trans, with rough country long arm crossmember also daystar poly engine mounts. Night and day difference in how it feels on and off road, small increase on in cab vibrations. But not a deal breaker, compared to rubber mounts which have slop to them, and you can actually feel drivetrain moving back and forth over obstacles, and in shifting between gears, the daystar poly mounts remove all that excess movement resulting in a more stable gear shifting, and obstacle traversing. Best used with daystar motor mounts to really change the characteristics of how it feels on and off road in the only way it matters, up and over!

The mount is maximum solid. I just had it installed with my Transmission rebuild. Cab vibration is no joke! Hoping it breaks in a little after a few thousand miles but It does feel secure. Having issues shifting into 4WD but think it’s the linkage.

Really kept everything in place. Vibrations are as bad as everyone says

Perfect fit! Makes shifting, even in an auto, feel so smooth and crisp. Be prepared for some vibrations. Ive got poly engine mounts and the poly trans mount. At idle and take-off, a good amount of vibrations, especially with the AC on. While driving vibrations reduce. Overall extremely satisfied.

This does fit a 99XJ 4L with AT and the offset pattern. Pictures show this mount compared to a stock mount. In the overhead picture you can see bolt patterns line up and the Daystar even extends out farther giving more metal around hole. In the side by side, you can see a minor difference in height. I find it a little quieter than stock, but that may be due to the stock being damaged. It went in easily. Over all a good match with the Brown Dog motor mounts. The way the Daystar tech put it, the KJ01007BK is taller and offset and the KJ01010BK is shorter and centered. Not sure why the guide says it won't fit.

I installed this particular transmission mount on a '94 Jeep XJ Cherokee with a 4.0L engine and AX-15 5-speed manual transmission after I had already installed Energy Suspension poly motor mounts. The complete "poly makeover" for the powertrain and drivetrain made a considerable difference in the way my Jeep shifts, downshifts, and picks up with a throttle punch. With a manual transmission, the vibration increase is minimal and hardly noticeable at engine speeds above 700 RPM. At idle, there is a slight increase in cabin vibration, but this is a plus to me as it feels like the vehicle has more power available. If you're looking for a more sporty feel to your Jeep, this transmission mount works with AW4 and AX-15 transmissions, not just the 2.5L auto setup as it's advertised here. The only unexpected occurrence from upgrading to this mount was when I popped the transfer case in four-low and it wouldn't stay locked in. A quick 10-minute linkage adjustment was all that was necessary to get the t-case back into optimal working condition. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask here or hit cherokeeforum.com to get help from many Jeep enthusiasts.UPDATE: 24 July 2014; The Energy Suspension motor mounts are certainly not the best choice, so if you go that route get Brown Dog, Iron Man Fab, or a similar style motor mount. The Daystar Transmission mount, however, is holding up excellently and has not given me any issues. I will be installing one of these soon on a '97 XJ Cherokee Sport with an automatic transmission, so I will write a separate review for that application.

This is a beautifully made, if stiff design, tranny mount. However, I was unable to utilize it because it does not have the approximate fifteen degree "cant" that the factory mount has. My Jeep mechanic said it would make for "unusual" 4WD shifting and many more felt vibrations. The softer OEM type steel/rubber mounts wear out mighty quickly, causing the car to experience clunking from the drive train. If this design had a shape more like factory, it would be a nice product (that I could fit onto my particular 1989 Jeep Cherokee 6-cyl 4WD automatic).
