The stock hood latches utilize a weak and stretch-prone rubber that allows the hood to shake and flutter at speed. The result is often unsettling, especially when passing an 18-wheeler going the other direction! A suspension lift only aggravates the problem by allowing more air to push up on the underside of the hood.

These thing are only temporary. The rubber breaks down with heat and with repeated opening and closing the hood puts a lot of stress on the rubber. I ended up replacing my hood latches with all metal ones. Cost was high but worth it.

Seems to be stronger than OEM straps and installs easily.

These are an excellent replacement for the stock rubber mounts. The polyurethane is much stiffer and totally eliminates hood fludder. The only downside is they are much harder to snap closed but well worth the trade off. The screws have pre applied loctite. Plus they are made in the USA

Quick and easy install. These are very tight and will take alittle more effort to latch the hood. The hood no longer bounces around while driving. Definitely worth the money.

Recommended by other Jeep owners and friends, and yes easy to install and snaps tightly in place and removes the hood flutter (my hood was slightly bouncing up and down on the highway. With this extra strong piece installed I am more confident of my hood being held down.

As many TJ Jeep owners ('97-'06) know, the stock rubber hood latches on these models stretch and split after several years and start popping open as you drive. You get out (or notice as you walk back) and see one or both latches are hanging open. It's annoying and at first it makes you think someone has messed with your ride until you figure out what is going on. It's considerably worse on rigs that are left outside as it's the UV in sunlight that causes the damage. These are the only replacements I've seen that are polyurethane and not rubber. It's far stiffer and stronger than rubber and will not stretch or sag. I've had mine over 8 years and they are still snug. Keep in mind they are more difficult to snap open or closed than the stock rubber but then again that's exactly what you want. I do think they are a bit over priced at $25 though... $12-$15 seems about right for two hunks of molded urethane. Still, it is a quality product and definitely outlasts the stock rubber it replaces.

Lost one of my hood latches while off road over the weekend. And the remaining one looked like it needed to be replaced as well. I just finished installing these new ones and am very happy with them. I like that the bolts/pins that hold them on are threaded which will probably be more secure than what was on there before. Unfortunately I didn't think to look for the parts when I lost the one so I had to buy one new full latch assembly for about $13 just to get the top part that locks into the receiver part that's mounted to the hood. I found that with a good set of vice grips it was pretty easy to get the old pins out. I had seen a video on youtube where the guy used a hack saw to get them off, but I didn't find that to be necessary at all. The new ones fit very snugly and first time latching the hood with them will require some effort. Hopefully they will last several years.

Seems like good quality. Instructions step #2 says to remove lower latch mount from fender. I end up spinning my fastener in latch and can't remove. I decided to remove rubber while still on fender, so I can tighten down latch without even trying to remove.Instructions must cover a wide year range of Wranglers, cause I did not need to remove lower latch mount to remove pins and old rubber.I go to start installing new rubbers and found I got sent 8 not 4 pins with no bolts to secure in part kit BU76122.Damn......

Great alternative to buying the complete latch kits..which would have cost 3x more. These hold the hood TIGHT!! BUT..I found out the hard way, they DO NOT like -32°celcius weather. They stiffen up like iron, making it virtually impossible to re-latch your hood,if you've opened it,say,to retrieve your block heater cord.
