Ordered CDI box for my 1988 TRX 250 R. will not run with this cdi box.only backfires .loudly. But when I install OEM cdi box It runs perfectly

swapped this cdi unit into my 89 trx250r for an upgrade from oem; this thing is terrible. runs poorly at an idle and the timing curve is way off at rpm. full throttle under load it seriously lacks power from the oem unit. I definitely am going to stay with the oem cdi and unload this thing to someone id like to see loose a race.

I ordered this CDI for a 1988 Honda TRX250R but what I received was a CDI for a TRX90. I also ordered this same DB p/n 160-02033 directly from DB Electrical and received the incorrect CDI from them too. I received a TRX90 CDI box. Later I ordered DB Electrical p/n 230-22199 and it functioned correctly on my Honda TRX250R. The DB CDI is a bit smaller than the stock but I added some additional material so it fit snugly in the stock CDI holder.

i just recieved my shipment today i pluged it in and it ran for not even 2 minutes and it stoped working i hooked up another cdi and the bike starts up with your cdi i get no spark anymore what could you do about your cdi, thank you
