The spool and rope are all I used to replace my broken ones. The spring end kept bending so I reused my original spring.

It worked fine for a few times of cranking the weedeater. But before long it did just as the original one, I replaced on the TB-685EC weedeater. I put it down to a design flaw on their part. They have so much trouble with this mechanism Troybilt offers an attachment where you can crank it with a drill or an electric driver. That being said, the new pully had a softer plastic than the original and it was only a few runs before the new part dented and failed.

I like how eat the kit was to install. I have no idea if there was a bad spot in the rope or what. I took it apart and couldn’t find anything fir the rope to snag on. When I took it apart the wire spring sprung, so I’ll be needing to order another kit.
